Remedy’s New CEO Backs CONTROL Resonant as CONTROL Passes 6 Million Sales

Remedy Entertainment has started 2026 on a profitable note, but the bigger headline from its latest Q1 2026 financial report is the growing momentum behind the CONTROL franchise. The company confirmed that Control has now sold more than 6 million lifetime copies, while also making it clear that CONTROL Resonant remains on track for a 2026 launch. Remedy reported Q1 revenue of 13.1 million euros, down 1.9% year over year, but EBITDA improved to 2.9 million euros from 2.6 million euros, and operating cash flow swung sharply positive to 8.3 million euros from negative 6.6 million euros a year earlier.

The strongest shift in the quarter came from Remedy’s revenue mix. Game sales and royalties nearly doubled to 5.0 million euros from 2.6 million euros in Q1 2025, while development fees fell to 8.2 million euros from 10.7 million euros as CONTROL Resonant moves closer to release. Remedy also ended the quarter with 34.0 million euros in cash and liquid investments, up from 28.0 million euros a year earlier, while net cash reached 15.9 million euros. These figures suggest a studio that is entering its next release window in a healthier position than it was a year ago.

This quarter also marks a leadership transition. Jean Charles Gaudechon, who officially became Remedy’s CEO on March 1, used the report to set a confident tone around the studio’s next major launch. His comments on CONTROL Resonant were especially direct, going beyond corporate optimism and into a personal endorsement of the game itself. He said Remedy remains committed to making it a “must have day one purchase” for Control fans and players worldwide, adding that leading indicators are on track and that he plays the game regularly. He said the gameplay and overall feel are coming together and that he is confident Remedy has a strong product on its hands.

That kind of language stands out because it shows how central CONTROL Resonant has become to Remedy’s near term strategy. The company said it carried out several steps in its global marketing campaign during Q1, including a gameplay trailer during PlayStation’s State of Play, an additional trailer released with NVIDIA, press and creator showcases with positive sentiment, and the release of the first CONTROL Resonant developer diary. Remedy also said marketing activity and related spending will intensify significantly before launch.

The company is also pushing harder into new regions. Remedy said it launched social media marketing in China, is working with local partners across China and other Asian markets, and after the reporting period made an appearance at Gamescom Latam in São Paulo. The report also notes that CONTROL Resonant supports 8 audio languages, including Chinese and Brazilian Portuguese as new additions, making it the most localized Remedy game to date. That is a notable move for a studio historically associated more with prestige narrative games than aggressive global market expansion.

On the development side, Remedy now lists 3 active projects. CONTROL Resonant is in full production and due this year, Max Payne 1 and 2 Remake remains in full production with Rockstar Games as publisher, and an unannounced new project is in proof of concept. Remedy also reiterated its long term financial goals, including doubling 2024 revenue by 2027 and reaching a 30% EBITDA margin by that point, then maintaining at least that level through the strategy period. Since 2024 revenue was about 50.7 million euros, that implies a 2027 revenue target of roughly 100 million euros.

For Remedy, the message is clear. Control has grown into a meaningful franchise, the company’s balance sheet is improving, and its new CEO is publicly staking his credibility on CONTROL Resonant as the game that can carry the next phase of growth. That does not guarantee a hit, but it does show a much more assertive commercial posture than the studio has sometimes projected in the past. After crossing 6 million units with Control, Remedy now looks determined to turn that brand recognition into a bigger, more durable global business.

What do you think, can CONTROL Resonant become Remedy’s biggest launch yet, or will Max Payne end up being the studio’s real breakout commercial moment?
