A New Divinity Game Likely Linked to Mysterious TGA “Demonic Statue” Reveal as New Trademarks Surface

The mystery surrounding the demonic statue teased by Geoff Keighley for The Game Awards 2025 may have been solved. According to a new report by MP1st, Larian Studios has recently registered multiple Divinity trademarks in Europe, strongly suggesting that the studio is preparing to announce a new entry in its long running cRPG franchise.

One of the newly registered icons matches the design of the real world demonic statue located in the Mojave Desert that TGA staff showcased on social media. The statue’s silhouette and ornamentation appear nearly identical to the trademarked symbol, making it increasingly likely that the teaser is tied directly to a new Divinity project.

The timing is not entirely unexpected. After Baldur’s Gate 3 became a global phenomenon, Larian confirmed that it would not be developing Baldur’s Gate 4. Instead, the studio intended to move forward with games over which it retains complete IP ownership. Outside of a single science fiction RTS released in 1997 (The L.E.D. Wars), Larian has exclusively created Divinity titles for over two decades. With Original Sin 2 selling strongly and maintaining high acclaim, returning to the franchise has always been the safest and most strategic path.

What is surprising is how soon the announcement appears to be happening. Less than a year ago, Larian CEO Swen Vincke stated that the next project was very large in scope and would require significantly more development time. In October 2024, Vincke even suggested it might take “another five years” before the studio could return to an award stage with a new game, which many fans interpreted as a hint toward a 2029 launch target.

However, Larian’s historical cadence supports early announcements. Baldur’s Gate 3 was revealed in 2019, over four years ahead of its 2023 release. The studio also has a consistent pattern of Early Access development; Original Sin, Original Sin 2, and Baldur’s Gate 3 all entered Early Access years before their 1.0 versions shipped. If the upcoming Divinity title follows the same model, Early Access could potentially begin around 2027, with a full release closer to 2029.

For now, this remains speculation, but with The Game Awards just two days away, fans may not have to wait long for confirmation. If the demonic statue truly represents the new Divinity’s emblem, Larian appears ready to step back into its homegrown universe with a major next generation RPG.

Do you think Larian will confirm the new Divinity at The Game Awards, and would you prefer another Original Sin style entry or a bold new direction for the series?
