No Man’s Sky BREACH Update Adds a New Expedition and Encourages Players to Spacewalk

Less than two months after the successful Voyagers update, Hello Games has released BREACH, a major new free update for No Man’s Sky that introduces spacewreck exploration, ship-building enhancements, and a brand-new Expedition just in time for Halloween.

Following Voyagers, which reached the highest player numbers ever recorded for the game, the British studio is looking to build on that momentum with a content-rich expansion that encourages players to venture deeper into space than ever before.

The highlight of the BREACH update is the addition of space wrecks scattered across the galaxy. Players can now perform spacewalks to explore these massive derelict ships, salvage rare materials, and uncover hidden stories. This long-requested feature adds a new layer of discovery and tension to No Man’s Sky’s vast universe. Salvaging from wrecks also unlocks new ship-building parts, allowing players to further customize and expand their spacecraft in the in-game workshop.

“We saw how much time players spent designing their dream ships, so we’ve expanded and improved ship-building to make it deeper and more rewarding,” Hello Games said in its update notes.

The update also introduces a brand-new Expedition called Breach, where players will journey through an abandoned and desolate universe to uncover the mystery of a doomed ship. Travelling to the edge of space, explorers will salvage valuable wreckage and recover unique modules and components to enhance their own vessels.

New structural and vertical ship parts can now be crafted, including colossal hull sections, illuminated Atlas-themed wings, and engines. These additions allow for unprecedented creative freedom, letting players construct everything from sleek starfighters to massive floating fortresses.

In addition to shipwrecks, the Expedition brings players together to explore purple-star solar systems, which feature deep oceans, dramatic terrain, and volatile gas giants. Hello Games describes these as some of the most visually striking environments in the game. The Breach Expedition also features a haunting narrative, fitting for the Halloween season, combining mystery, cosmic exploration, and subtle horror elements that will keep players on edge as they uncover what lies within the wrecks.

Since its 2016 release, No Man’s Sky has evolved into one of the most impressive redemption stories in gaming, with Hello Games delivering continuous free updates that expand exploration, base building, combat, and multiplayer. The BREACH update continues this trend, showing that nine years later, the game still has fresh adventures waiting among the stars.
