Warhammer 40K: Dawn Of War IV Launches On September 17, 2026 With Year 1 Roadmap And 2 Major Expansions

Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War IV finally has an official release date. Revealed during Warhammer Skulls 2026, developer KING Art and publisher Deep Silver confirmed that the long awaited real time strategy sequel will launch on PC on September 17, 2026. The announcement arrived with a new Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War IV gameplay trailer, giving fans another look at the return of one of the most recognizable strategy franchises in the Warhammer 40K universe. Alongside the release date, preorders are now live, and the publisher also revealed the game’s first year content roadmap, which includes free updates, map packs, the return of Crusade Mode, and 2 paid expansions.

The standard edition is currently available for $53.99 with a 10% launch preorder discount. Players who want the larger package can choose the Commander Edition for $80.99, which includes the base game, both paid Year 1 expansions, and access to the game 3 days before the official September 17 launch. For players who prefer to wait before committing to the expansions, both DLCs will also be available separately after launch. This gives strategy fans the option to start with the base campaign and multiplayer systems before deciding whether to invest in the broader Year 1 content plan.

The first paid expansion, Blood Ravens, is scheduled for Winter 2026. Before that arrives, KING Art plans to release major free updates, including the game’s first map pack and the return of Crusade Mode during the fall window after launch. A second map pack and an additional Crusade Mode update will also arrive before the Blood Ravens prologue expansion.

The second paid expansion, Aftermath, is planned for Spring 2027. It will follow more free updates and additional map packs, suggesting that Dawn of War IV will receive a structured mix of paid story content and free support across its first year.

This roadmap is important because Dawn of War has always carried strong expectations from PC strategy players. The series built its reputation on fast tactical warfare, brutal Warhammer 40K presentation, faction identity, and battlefield intensity. With Dawn of War IV, KING Art and Deep Silver now have the challenge of reviving that legacy while delivering a modern strategy experience that can satisfy longtime fans and attract newer players.

The Commander Edition’s inclusion of both expansions also signals that Deep Silver is treating Year 1 as a full content cycle rather than a simple launch window. For fans already committed to the game, the package may offer a clear path through the first wave of content. For more cautious players, the ability to buy expansions separately gives more flexibility.

The timing also strengthens the argument that 2026 could become a major year for Warhammer strategy games. With Dawn of War IV now confirmed for September and other major Warhammer strategy projects expected this year, Games Workshop’s universe appears ready for a strong push across the PC strategy market.

For now, Dawn of War IV has what fans were waiting for most: a release date, a gameplay showcase, and a defined content roadmap. The real question is whether KING Art can deliver a sequel worthy of the Dawn of War name after such a long wait.

Are you planning to preorder Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War IV, or will you wait to see how the base game performs before buying the expansions?
