Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra Pushed Back Once Again, Now Targeting Mid-to-Late 2026
Skydance Games has announced another delay for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, the highly anticipated narrative-driven superhero title helmed by Uncharted creator Amy Hennig. Originally expected to arrive in early 2026, the game will now launch sometime in mid-to-late 2026, marking its second major delay since being revealed.
The announcement was made through the official Skydance Games X account, where the studio reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a high-quality experience worthy of the Marvel legacy.
“Our goal is to deliver unforgettable, premium games that honor the characters and the worlds we’re fortunate to work with,” the post read. “Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is an ambitious project, and we are committed to ensuring it meets the level of quality that our team, players, and fans expect.”
Skydance further explained that the extended timeline is necessary to fully realize its vision for the game.
“To fully realize our vision for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, we’ve made the decision to shift our release window beyond early 2026. We’re grateful for the passion and support from the community and players around the world. The team is working hard to create something truly special, and we look forward to sharing more with you as development progresses.”

The timing of this announcement coincided closely with Rockstar Games’ confirmation that Grand Theft Auto VI had also been delayed to late 2026, creating a rare instance where two major releases were postponed within minutes of one another. Despite being overshadowed by Rockstar’s blockbuster update, Skydance’s statement reinforces the studio’s dedication to maintaining a high production standard rather than rushing development.
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra was first unveiled in March 2024, surprising fans with its cinematic trailer and period setting that brings together iconic Marvel heroes such as Captain America and Black Panther during World War II. Initially slated for 2025, the title was quietly pushed to early 2026 earlier this year. With this latest delay, its release window now falls between mid and late 2026, although no specific date has been confirmed.
The project represents a major effort from Skydance New Media, the game division founded by Amy Hennig, who is widely known for her acclaimed narrative work on Uncharted and Legacy of Kain. The game promises a deeply story-driven experience that blends cinematic storytelling with interactive action, set against the backdrop of global conflict and the rise of Hydra as a shadow organization.
While the delay may disappoint fans eager to experience this fresh take on the Marvel universe, it also highlights the studio’s desire to perfect the game’s complex technical and narrative elements before release. Given Amy Hennig’s reputation for rich storytelling and character development, expectations remain high for when Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra finally arrives.
