Triarchy Announced: An Open World Co-Op Action RPG Centered on Boss Fights and Sailing, Launching in 2026
Independent studio Digital Confectioners has revealed its next major project, Triarchy, an open world co-op action RPG focused on intense boss battles, sailing, and team-based exploration. The game will support up to three players in cooperative play and is set to release in 2026.
Set in a drowned world, Triarchy invites players to traverse scattered islands, hunting deadly bosses that dominate the archipelago. Each encounter will feature unique attack patterns, multi-phase fights, and hazardous arenas demanding precise coordination, timing, and teamwork. Digital Confectioners promises a deep combat experience designed to test skill and patience, emphasizing stamina management, poise breaks, and perfectly timed parries.
Upon defeating bosses, players will earn exclusive loot, including upgrade materials and boss-specific gear. The game also includes a Challenge Mode, where players can re-engage bosses at higher difficulties unlocked through hidden triggers. These rematches introduce new attack patterns, enhanced abilities, and rebalanced mechanics, offering better rewards for those who dare to face them.
Progression in Triarchy will rely on experience points used to unlock abilities in a customizable talent tree, allowing players to refine their fighting styles. Combat focuses on deliberate melee encounters where risk and precision are key. A wide selection of weapons, each with distinct handling, will be available, and thanks to the freeform dual-wield system, players can creatively combine different weapon types for unique playstyles.
Beyond combat, sailing will play a vital role in exploration and survival. Each player’s ship serves as a customizable floating base, which can be upgraded over time with better hulls, sails, and structural improvements for enhanced speed and durability. Ships will include essential facilities such as a crafting workbench, supply storage, and a map table for navigation, making the vessel both a strategic tool and a home for adventurers.
Co-op functionality is designed to be seamless and flexible, featuring no tethering restrictions, shared progress, enemy scaling, and drop-in/drop-out support. Players can explore freely without being forced to stay close to their teammates, allowing for greater autonomy during exploration and combat.
According to the Steam listing, Triarchy will require the following minimum system specifications:
OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
Processor: Intel Core i3 8100 / AMD Ryzen 3 2300X
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB / AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB
DirectX: Version 12
Storage: 25 GB available space
With its combination of open world co-op gameplay, challenging boss mechanics, and deep ship customization, Triarchy looks to offer a distinctive experience for fans of tactical melee RPGs and cooperative exploration.
Would you rather take on Triarchy’s monstrous bosses alone or sail the seas with two allies by your side?
