The Witcher 3 HDRP NextGen Edition 2026 Will Feature Wind Simulation and Highly Detailed Character Overhauls
Modder Halk Hogan has officially shared the second video preview of the upcoming The Witcher 3 HDRP NextGen Edition 2026, offering a deeper look at what is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious visual overhauls ever created for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The new preview arrives roughly 2 months after the mod was first announced and reinforces the scale and long term vision behind this community driven remaster.
The HDRP NextGen Edition is designed to modernize thousands of in game assets, covering textures, models, materials, and environmental details across the entire world. In his latest update, Halk Hogan confirmed that environmental interactivity is becoming a major pillar of the project. Many previously static objects will now feature full wind simulation, adding natural motion to foliage, props, and world elements that were once visually frozen in place.
Character fidelity is also receiving a substantial upgrade. According to the modder, all characters will be fully reworked, alongside every piece of armor and equipment worn by Geralt and Roach. The goal is a significant leap in surface detail, geometry accuracy, and material realism, bringing character presentation closer to modern AAA standards while preserving the original artistic direction that fans associate with the game.
Halk Hogan emphasized that what is shown in the new video represents only a fraction of the work being done. The full HDRP NextGen Edition 2026 is expected to include far broader changes and refinements when it launches later this year.
The timing of this mod is particularly interesting given renewed speculation around the future of The Witcher 3. Rumors continue to circulate that CD Projekt RED may be quietly preparing a brand new DLC expansion, arriving nearly 10 years after the release of Blood and Wine. Industry chatter suggests the content could serve as a narrative bridge between The Witcher 3 and the upcoming The Witcher 4.
Reports previously shared by IGN Poland indicated that the studio had shown interest in exploring new regions for such a DLC, including the Eastern realm of Zerrikania, while also considering the Northern kingdom of Kovir and Poviss as potential settings. While nothing has been officially confirmed, the possibility of new story content has reignited long term player interest in revisiting the world of Geralt of Rivia.
For players who do not want to wait and are eager to experience the current version of the visual overhaul, the existing The Witcher 3 HDRP NextGen Edition is already available for download on Nexus Mods.
With wind driven environments, overhauled characters, and next generation visual ambition, HDRP NextGen Edition 2026 is positioning itself as the definitive way to experience The Witcher 3 in the modern era, especially for PC players looking to push visual immersion to its limits.
