Sony Pictures VR and ARVORE Announce The Boys: Trigger Warning, Coming to PS VR2 and Meta Quest 3 in 2026
Sony Pictures VR and acclaimed Brazilian VR studio ARVORE have officially announced The Boys: Trigger Warning, a new virtual reality experience based on Amazon’s hit TV series The Boys. The title marks the first fully dedicated videogame adaptation of the franchise and is expected to launch on PS VR2 and Meta Quest 3 in 2026. The reveal trailer, showcases a tense, horror infused atmosphere that frames Homelander as a terrifying force to escape rather than confront directly a tone that aligns closely with the show’s depiction of its unstable superpowered celebrities.
Players will embody a completely new original character who unwillingly becomes a Supe after a family outing ends in catastrophe, uncovering yet another buried truth from Vought’s long list of atrocities. From there, the protagonist joins the Boys in their ongoing mission to expose Vought and dismantle its grip on society. Several cast members reprise their roles, including Laz Alonso as MM, Colby Minifie as Ashley Barrett, and P. J. Byrne as Adam Bourke. Jensen Ackles also appears as “a twisted interpretation of Soldier Boy” created exclusively for the game.
ARVORE, known for Pixel Ripped 1978, Pixel Ripped 1989, Pixel Ripped 1995, The Line, and Clawball, emphasized its close collaboration with the show’s writers and actors to authentically bring the universe of The Boys into VR. Studio founder Ricardo Justus explained that this partnership allowed ARVORE to capture the irreverent humor, brutality, and edge that define the franchise. Sony Pictures VR echoed this sentiment, noting that the involvement of the show’s creators has enabled them to push immersive storytelling further while partnering with both Meta and PlayStation to reach audiences across major VR ecosystems.
The choice to debut the franchise’s first dedicated game as a VR exclusive is notable, given the medium’s continued growth but still relatively niche position. It also clarifies earlier remarks from showrunner Eric Kripke, who hinted at a videogame in development but suggested it would not be a traditional Xbox or PlayStation release. The PS VR2 announcement seemingly contradicts that earlier messaging, indicating that Kripke may not have been fully briefed on platform strategy.
Casting details remain incomplete. Homelander appears in the trailer, though with actor Anthony Starr having declined to voice the character in Mortal Kombat 1, it seems unlikely he will reprise the role here. Similarly, Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, and Karen Fukuhara have not been confirmed. Screenshots do show Billy Butcher, suggesting the character will appear even if Karl Urban does not voice him.
As a VR adaptation, The Boys: Trigger Warning faces the challenge of translating the show’s chaotic energy, graphic violence, and dark humor into an interactive format that maintains the spirit of the series while capitalizing on VR’s immersive capabilities. If ARVORE succeeds, the project may become a standout example of narrative driven VR entertainment.
Fans will find out whether ARVORE can deliver on that promise when The Boys: Trigger Warning arrives on PS VR2 and Meta Quest 3 in 2026.
