Silent Hill Remake Reportedly Targets 2027 as First 2 Cast Members Emerge

Konami and Bloober Team's remake of the original Silent Hill is reportedly targeting a 2027 release, with the first 2 actresses potentially attached to the project now identified. The upcoming survival horror remake will revisit the 1999 PlayStation classic, following the success of Bloober Team's Silent Hill 2 remake and Konami's renewed investment in the franchise.

According to an investigation by MP1st, the project is currently using the casting codename Project Noise, with British based actresses Gabrielle Fritz and Jade Matthew reportedly involved in production. Fritz has previous credits in Battlefield 2042, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus and Luna Abyss, while Matthew has appeared in Dragon Nest and several television productions. Neither actress has been linked to a specific character, and the actor portraying protagonist Harry Mason remains unknown.

The original Silent Hill features several prominent female characters, including police officer Cybil Bennett, nurse Lisa Garland and Dahlia Gillespie. Although these characters are possible candidates for the reported casting, no roles have been confirmed. The project has also previously been associated with the internal codename Project G, which may be separate from its casting designation.

Konami officially announced the remake in June 2025 during its Press Start presentation, confirming that Bloober Team would return to the franchise after developing Silent Hill 2. However, the publisher has not announced a release date, gameplay details or supported platforms.

The reported 2027 window aligns with Konami's broader plans for the series. Producer Motoi Okamoto previously outlined a goal of releasing approximately 1 Silent Hill title annually, including both announced and unannounced projects. Following Silent Hill 2 in 2024, Silent Hill f in 2025 and Silent Hill: Townfall in 2026, the original game's remake could become the franchise's next major release.

Bloober Team's involvement carries significant expectations. According to Konami's March 2026 announcement, Silent Hill 2 surpassed 5 million units worldwide when combining physical and digital sales, downloads and subscription access. Its modernized combat, expanded environments and updated presentation demonstrated how the studio could reinterpret classic survival horror without completely abandoning its original identity.

The first Silent Hill presents a different challenge. Its story follows Harry Mason as he searches for his missing daughter Cheryl in a town consumed by supernatural events and disturbing occult mysteries. Its atmosphere relies heavily on psychological tension, limited visibility and environmental uncertainty, elements that will require careful treatment in a modern remake.

While the casting report suggests development is progressing, the 2027 release target remains unofficial and could change depending on production requirements.

Bloober Team has already demonstrated that classic survival horror can be modernized successfully, but remaking the original Silent Hill requires a different creative approach from Silent Hill 2. The first game's oppressive environments, unconventional pacing and unsettling sound design are central to its identity.

Improved visuals, modern controls and expanded exploration could make the experience more accessible, but preserving its psychological tension should remain the priority. The reported casting activity is an encouraging indication of production progress, although it provides little insight into gameplay or overall development readiness.

A 2027 launch would also support Konami's ambition to maintain a consistent Silent Hill release schedule. Nevertheless, preserving the quality of individual games will be more important than delivering a new installment every year.

Should Bloober Team keep the original Silent Hill as faithful as possible, or would you prefer a complete modernization of its combat, exploration and gameplay systems?
