Stellar Blade Developer SHIFT UP Signs Publishing Deal with Tencent Level Infinite for Project Spirits

SHIFT UP, the South Korean studio behind the globally acclaimed Stellar Blade, has officially announced a new publishing partnership with Tencent’s Level Infinite for its upcoming title currently known as Project Spirits. The agreement marks another major step in SHIFT UP’s rapid expansion across the international gaming market.

According to the studio’s press release, Project Spirits is being developed as a cross platform title built on Unreal Engine 5, targeting PC, console and mobile devices. The project is a joint development effort between SHIFT UP and Yongxing Interactive, a Tencent affiliated studio. This collaboration further deepens the relationship between Level Infinite and SHIFT UP following their previous work together on the successful global launch of Goddess of Victory NIKKE.

Both companies stated their commitment to achieving even greater synergy with Project Spirits compared to their previous collaboration. As part of this initiative, SHIFT UP and Level Infinite have expanded their partnership to include both publishing responsibilities and shared development roles. This positions Project Spirits as a flagship cross platform release leveraging the strengths of both studios.

SHIFT UP rose to prominence through the mobile hit Goddess of Victory NIKKE, but it was Stellar Blade that elevated the developer to global recognition. The action adventure title earned significant attention for its high fidelity visuals, polished combat system and distinctive art direction.

Just last week, SHIFT UP confirmed that the Stellar Blade sequel would not follow the release strategy of the first installment. Instead of being published solely by Sony Interactive Entertainment on PlayStation 5 and PC, the sequel will be a fully multiplatform release across multiple consoles. This strategic shift indicates that SHIFT UP is broadening its publishing approach and aiming for a more diversified global footprint.

Project Spirits is positioned as the next major step in the studio’s evolution, combining SHIFT UP’s renowned visual direction and gameplay design with Tencent’s large scale publishing capabilities. More information regarding gameplay, release timing and platform specifics is expected to be revealed in the coming months.
