Sagas of Lumin Blends Dragonback Combat, Ground Battles, and Steampunk Fantasy Ahead of Its 2026 Early Access Launch
Independent developer Elos Games And Arts and publisher GameDev.ist used the Future Games Show Spring Showcase to give Sagas of Lumin a stronger spotlight, and the project is shaping up as one of the more unusual fantasy action RPGs currently on the way. According to the official Steam page, the game is a single player, semi open world action RPG centered on seamless transitions between aerial dragon combat and ground based fighting with swords, firearms, and magic. Steam currently lists the release window as Q3 2026, which broadly aligns with the Summer 2026 timing highlighted around the showcase.
What gives Sagas of Lumin its clearest identity is that combat is not split into isolated modes. The official game description says players can move fluidly between dragon riding, air battles, and close quarter encounters on foot, while maintaining a bonded relationship with their dragon throughout the experience. The dragon is not just a mount. It functions as a central combat partner, able to unleash fire attacks, aerial tackles, bites, and midair aggression against enemy dragons, fortified positions, and even airships.
On the ground, the game appears to pivot into a more deliberate action RPG style. Steam says melee combat is built around timing and precision, with players able to use swords, axes, spears, firearms, and magic depending on how they want to approach a fight. That combination gives the project a broader combat profile than many fantasy indies, especially with the added steampunk influence shaping the world and weapon mix.
Narratively, the game places players in the role of a Drair, a dragon rider navigating a morally complex world rather than a simple good versus evil setup. The official description says player choices will shape how events unfold, and the world of Lumin is presented as one built around intrigue, exploration, and factional conflict. That choice driven direction could help separate the game from other dragon fantasy projects that focus more narrowly on spectacle than on worldbuilding or consequence. This last point is an inference based on the official description’s emphasis on branching outcomes and moral complexity.
The Early Access plan is also already relatively clear. Steam says the developers currently aim to keep the game in Early Access for around 1 year, with the goal of reaching the full release within that period. The studio also says it plans to expand the game with more unique levels, epic boss battles, more dragon and flying ship variety, and a wider set of weapons, outfits, and animations before version 1.0. If that schedule holds, the full version would likely land around Q3 2027.
There is already a free demo available on Steam as well, which makes this more than just a trailer reveal. The demo is currently downloadable, giving players a hands on look at the project before Early Access begins. That is a smart move for a game trying to sell a relatively ambitious mix of dragonflight, air combat, melee action, firearms, magic, and choice driven RPG systems all at once.
The official Steam requirements also suggest the team is targeting fairly accessible midrange PC hardware for the Early Access launch.

For now, Sagas of Lumin looks like a project trying to fill a niche the industry does not serve very often: a dragon rider fantasy where aerial mobility, direct combat, and RPG progression are all tightly linked. That is a hard concept to pull off, but it is also exactly why the game stands out.
What do you think about Sagas of Lumin so far, does the seamless switch between dragonback combat and ground fighting make this one worth watching for you?
