ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X Pre-Orders Reportedly Begin August 20 at Gamescom 2025

In a major development ahead of Gamescom 2025, pre-orders for ASUS ROG’s upcoming handhelds, the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, will reportedly go live on August 20, 2025, the same day the event officially begins. This news comes from reputable leaker Billbil-kun, who shared the scoop via Dealabs.

The timing aligns perfectly with Xbox’s confirmed plans for Gamescom 2025. The company recently announced that both ROG Xbox Ally devices will be playable at their booth during the event, alongside over 20 featured titles. Attendees will have the chance to test the handhelds firsthand, marking a major milestone in Xbox’s portable hardware expansion.

Billbil-kun’s report also corroborates earlier pricing leaks, stating that the standard ROG Xbox Ally will retail for €599, while the ROG Xbox Ally X is expected to launch at a premium price point of €899. Although those are the listed prices for Europe, official regional pricing for the US and other global markets remains unconfirmed.

That may change soon. Xbox is scheduled to hold two broadcasts at Gamescom on August 20 and 21, where the company may unveil official pricing and release date information. Alternatively, those key announcements could arrive even earlier during Gamescom Opening Night Live, which airs on August 19. If that’s the case, then fans should be prepared for pre-orders to start as soon as the next day, August 20.

Interestingly, speculation around the release of Hollow Knight: Silksong has also reignited. The original reveal trailer for the ROG Xbox Ally showed Silksong running on the device. And according to Xbox’s latest Gamescom lineup, Silksong will be playable at the booth on the Xbox Ally itself, further fueling rumors that the game’s long-awaited release date may finally be announced during the show.

The prevailing theory is that Xbox wants Silksong to be available day one on the ROG Xbox Ally, making Gamescom the ideal time for a dual announcement. Given that Opening Night Live is the last major event before The Game Awards, all signs point to a pivotal moment for both the handheld’s launch and Silksong’s release.

For those looking to stay ahead of the curve, Gamescom 2025 is already shaping up to be a key moment in the gaming calendar, especially for fans of portable gaming and long-awaited titles.

Do you think Xbox will surprise us with a day-one Silksong release and a same-day handheld launch? Drop your predictions below.
