Resident Evil Veronica Reportedly Shifts Toward Fall 2027 as CAPCOM Expands the Remake
Resident Evil Veronica may no longer be targeting the first half of 2027, with known CAPCOM insider Dusk Golem now reporting that the remake has potentially moved into a Fall 2027 release window. The change would represent an internal schedule adjustment rather than an official delay, since CAPCOM has only announced a broad 2027 release for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. CAPCOM has not publicly narrowed that window or announced a specific release date.
"There is a high chance it might've slipped into a Fall 2027 release."

According to Dusk Golem, he has now heard the Fall 2027 timing from 3 separate sources, although he stressed that he has not independently confirmed it directly and that the information should still be treated cautiously. He had previously reported that CAPCOM was attempting to complete the game for Q1 2027, with Q2 considered an alternative if additional development time became necessary. We see earlier internal target when Resident Evil Veronica was reportedly being pushed toward early 2027. The latest information therefore suggests development may require several additional months compared with that earlier internal goal.
The reported reason appears to involve changes being made relatively late in production. Dusk Golem said he was already aware that CAPCOM was revising parts of the game and that the final scope of those changes had remained uncertain. If the new release window is accurate, he believes the development team may have decided to become more ambitious with some of those revisions rather than forcing the remake toward its earlier target. He also suggested that this could help explain why Resident Evil Veronica did not appear at gamescom or Tokyo Game Show 2026, although that connection is his interpretation rather than something confirmed by CAPCOM.
That would fit with what CAPCOM has already said about the remake itself. Resident Evil Veronica is being rebuilt in RE ENGINE with a reimagined story and modernized presentation rather than recreated scene for scene from the 2000 original. Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi has confirmed that gameplay remains entirely in third person and follows the survival horror structure established by Claire Redfield's campaign in Resident Evil 2, with resource management remaining a central part of the experience. Earlier reports CAPCOM is significantly restructuring locations and story progression, making additional development time believable if the scope has continued evolving.
A Fall 2027 release would also move Veronica away from an increasingly congested first half of the year, although there is no evidence that competition is the reason for the reported schedule change. The early 2027 calendar already includes major releases across RPGs, action games, and survival titles, while CAPCOM itself has several projects planned across the year. Development requirements remain the more relevant explanation based on the information currently available. Most importantly, CAPCOM still officially lists Resident Evil Veronica simply for 2027, so until the publisher announces a date, Fall remains an insider reported target rather than a confirmed launch window.
Calling this a delay would be premature because CAPCOM never publicly committed to Q1 or Q2 2027. What appears to have changed is an internal production target, and that distinction matters. If CAPCOM has decided that several extra months are necessary to expand or restructure parts of Veronica, there is little reason to rush one of the most requested Resident Evil remakes simply to meet a schedule players were never officially promised.
The more interesting question is what those late changes actually involve. CAPCOM has already described Veronica as a reimagining, while previous reports suggest familiar content may appear in different locations, sequences, or contexts. If the project has become more ambitious during development, Fall 2027 could ultimately give the team more room to make those changes feel intentional rather than compressed around an earlier deadline.
Would you be comfortable waiting until Fall 2027 if the additional development time allows CAPCOM to make Resident Evil Veronica a more ambitious remake?
