Resident Evil Requiem Rumored to Feature Interconnected Storylines and Grounded Action

The next major Resident Evil installment, titled Resident Evil Requiem, is rumored to feature some of the series’ most ambitious storytelling and gameplay elements yet. According to a new video by Residence of Evil, leaker Dusk Golem has shared fresh details about the game, which launches next year on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.

Dusk Golem confirmed earlier reports that Leon S. Kennedy will be the second playable character alongside newcomer Grace. However, this time, Leon will appear noticeably older, with an unshaven look and greying hair, signaling a more grounded and world-weary version of the classic protagonist.

Leon’s gameplay sections are said to lean more toward grounded action rather than the over-the-top style of Resident Evil 4 or Village. Gone will be fantastical enemies like possessed statues, replaced with a darker, more survival-focused approach. His segments will reportedly include large environments and vehicles used to traverse them, reminiscent of the boat sequence in Resident Evil 4. Some insiders have even compared this shift to The Last of Us Part II’s gameplay design, mixing exploration with tense action.

One of the biggest rumors is how Requiem will handle its dual campaigns. According to the leak, Grace’s story will be set in 2028, while Leon’s will take place in 2020. Together, the two narratives will weave into a large, interconnected story - a first for the franchise at this scale.

While past Resident Evil entries like RE2 and RE6 have featured overlapping campaigns, Requiem may push this approach further by telling parallel stories across two different timelines, with events that ultimately converge to shape the larger narrative.

Dusk Golem suggests Leon’s campaign may be officially revealed during this week’s Tokyo Game Show, giving fans their first look at his updated appearance and gameplay. Regardless, more details will continue to emerge as the game nears release on February 27, 2026.

As always, these details should be taken with caution, as Capcom has not yet confirmed them. Still, if accurate, Resident Evil Requiem could be one of the boldest entries in the survival horror series yet.

Do you prefer Resident Evil to stay closer to its survival-horror roots, or are you excited to see a more grounded action-focused Leon campaign alongside Grace’s storyline?
