Resident Evil Requiem Drops 18 Minute Leon Gameplay as CAPCOM Details PS5 Pro Ray Tracing 60FPS and 120FPS Performance Mode

CAPCOM has pushed out a final Resident Evil Requiem media blast ahead of the game’s planned late February launch, and it is a strong one two punch for survival horror fans who care about both cinematic presentation and competitive level responsiveness. In a new interview with the Japanese PlayStation Blog, Director Akifumi Nakanishi confirmed that PlayStation 5 Pro players will have two primary performance paths to choose from: a 4K output 60fps option with full ray tracing enabled, or a high frame rate option that targets up to 120fps with ray tracing disabled, averaging around 90fps. CAPCOM also emphasizes that the team has spent significant time optimizing these modes, positioning the Pro as a meaningful upgrade path for players who want either maximum atmosphere or maximum motion clarity.

From a gameplay feel standpoint, Nakanishi highlights that the most impressive part of the PlayStation 5 Pro experience is the higher frame rate, noting that once you acclimate to the added responsiveness and visual information, returning to 60fps can feel noticeably less convincing. That comment matters because it frames the 120fps mode not as a marketing checkbox, but as a real readability advantage in tense combat and navigation scenarios, especially when reaction time and scene clarity can impact survival.

CAPCOM also leaned into platform immersion, confirming extensive DualSense feature support to amplify horror and physicality. The team describes using haptic feedback to convey tactile moments like a zombie grabbing an arm and biting, translating that sensation directly into the player’s hands through the controller. Adaptive triggers are used to differentiate weapon handling by changing trigger weight depending on the gun, while actions like reloading add vibrations and audio cues through the controller speaker. Puzzle interactions get the same treatment, with a jewel box example described as reproducing the sensation of rattling contents via vibration and sound, which is a smart way to make slower investigative moments feel tactile instead of passive. CAPCOM also indicates these immersion features should ideally carry over to PC players when using a DualSense controller.

To cap it off with pure fan service momentum, YouTuber Punish has posted a nearly 18 minute gameplay video featuring Leon Kennedy, who is confirmed as 1 of the game’s 2 protagonists and was kept officially quiet until last month. The footage provides a longer look at pacing and moment to moment tension, giving players more concrete signals on how Requiem is balancing classic Resident Evil pressure with modern presentation and control fidelity.

If you are choosing on PS5 Pro, are you prioritizing 4K 60fps with ray tracing for maximum atmosphere, or the 120fps performance mode for faster response and clearer combat readability?
