Report Suggests Naval Warfare Already in Development for Battlefield 6
A new report from Insider-Gaming claims that naval warfare is officially in development for Battlefield 6. The report follows recent statements from EA and Battlefield Studios, who confirmed they had listened to fan requests for features such as naval combat, the return of the Little Bird helicopter, platoons, and other classic mechanics.
According to Insider-Gaming, the report is based on datamined game files referencing two water-based vehicles. The files, which appear under Battlefield 6’s codename “Glacier,” include the following entries:
Game/GlacierMP/Kits/Vehicle_Neutral_Boat_JetSki
Game/GlacierMP/Kits/Vehicle_Neutral_Boat_RHIB
The “MP” tag likely stands for multiplayer, suggesting that these vehicles are designed for the game’s core online modes. Unless these files refer to cosmetic content or unrelated vehicle assets, the evidence strongly supports the idea that boat-based combat is being implemented for Battlefield 6’s multiplayer.
The possible inclusion of naval warfare continues a trend of Battlefield 6 drawing inspiration from earlier fan-favorite entries in the series, particularly Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4. Those titles were known for their large-scale combined-arms combat, which included air, land, and sea engagements.
Following the mixed reception of Battlefield 2042, many players have called for a return to the franchise’s more grounded and tactical warfare design. EA’s recent teasers, coupled with these findings, suggest that the upcoming installment aims to rebuild trust with the Battlefield community by reintroducing key gameplay elements that defined its most successful eras.
While EA has yet to officially confirm the presence of naval warfare in Battlefield 6, Insider-Gaming’s report aligns closely with earlier teasers and community expectations. If implemented, the feature would mark Battlefield’s first major return to large-scale sea combat in nearly a decade.
As Battlefield 6 continues development, more details are expected to surface ahead of its anticipated release. Fans can look forward to additional updates on vehicles, gameplay systems, and the studio’s renewed focus on immersive large-scale battles.
