Rebel Wolves Plans a Dawnwalker Saga Across Eras With Save Imports Linking Coen’s Choices
Rebel Wolves is already planning a long future for The Blood of Dawnwalker, with Coen expected to remain at the center of a role playing saga that moves across different historical periods, locations, and cultures while carrying player decisions between games.
The Polish studio revealed its broader ambitions during Summer Game Fest 2026 through a cinematic teaser that placed Coen far beyond the medieval setting of the first game. While The Blood of Dawnwalker takes place in 14th century Europe, the footage showed a modern courier delivering blood to an older version of the protagonist. Rebel Wolves later clarified that the scene represents the ultimate direction of the saga rather than confirming that the second game will immediately move into the present day.
According to the official Bandai Namco announcement, future installments will take Coen across centuries and continents while introducing new characters, conflicts, and cultures. Each game will still deliver an independent story with a complete conclusion, meaning players should not expect unresolved endings designed only to promote the next release.
Speaking with Eurogamer, Game Director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz explained that changing periods will help Rebel Wolves keep each installment creatively distinct. New locations will require the team to research different traditions, legends, and historical events while maintaining a consistent overarching narrative.
"This is the kind of thing exactly: to travel through the ages and through cultures. This will be a refreshment for us in every next part of the game, because we have this challenge in front of us, of doing something really fresh, something really cool. And at the same time, we know that we are doing a consistent story and we know where it is leading."

During an interview with Radio Times Gaming, Tomaszkiewicz added that Rebel Wolves has already outlined the wider plot connecting the planned games. Establishing that direction early allows the writers to prepare decisions and consequences that can continue affecting Coen long after the first chapter ends.
Bandai Namco subsequently confirmed to Eurogamer that players will have the option to transfer their save from the first game into future installments. The publisher has not explained which choices, relationships, characters, or world states will carry forward, but the feature places Dawnwalker alongside franchises such as Mass Effect and The Witcher, where decisions made in earlier games influence later stories.
The system could become especially significant because The Blood of Dawnwalker is structured around consequences. Players control Coen, a young man transformed into a Dawnwalker who remains human during the day but gains vampiric abilities at night. He has 30 days and nights to rescue his family, with quests, alliances, deaths, and missed opportunities changing how the story develops.
The Blood of Dawnwalker’s 70 hour narrative sandbox, players can technically confront the main threat shortly after the opening chapter. However, exploring Vale Sangora provides additional allies, abilities, information, and opportunities to improve Coen’s chances.
Rebel Wolves has confirmed that the first game will conclude Coen’s conflict with Brencis without relying on a cliffhanger, although attentive players may discover clues connected to the larger saga. The Blood of Dawnwalker has already gone gold and launches on September 3, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Planning the complete narrative before releasing the first game gives Rebel Wolves a stronger foundation for meaningful save imports. Instead of retroactively deciding which choices matter, the studio can build characters, consequences, and world states with future installments already in mind.
The challenge will be managing the enormous number of possible outcomes created by its narrative sandbox. Mass Effect demonstrated how powerful imported choices can be, but it also showed how difficult it becomes to honor every decision across multiple games.
Rebel Wolves has the experience to attempt this structure, especially with several developers coming from CD Projekt RED. However, the entire saga still depends on The Blood of Dawnwalker delivering a strong first chapter. September 3 will determine whether Coen’s journey truly has the foundation to survive for centuries.
Would save imports make you more invested in the Dawnwalker saga, or would you prefer every game to begin with a completely new protagonist?
