Tides of Annihilation Returns With New Boss Fight Gameplay and First Look at the Mirror Realm

After nearly a year of silence, Chinese developer Eclipse Glow Games reemerged during the Xbox Partner Preview with a new showcase of Tides of Annihilation, offering the most detailed look yet at its combat, world design, and narrative direction. The new trailer highlights a large scale boss encounter and provides the first clear demonstration of the game’s Mirror Realm, one of its core supernatural features.

The footage centers on protagonist Gwendolyn as she confronts Tyronoe the Ferryman, a powerful shapeshifting witch who serves as a major antagonist. Gwendolyn does not face this threat alone. She is accompanied by Sir Lamorak, one of the Knights of the Roundtable, who fights with a spear and joins her in coordinated attacks throughout the battle. The trailer presents the dynamic between these two characters as an essential part of the combat system.

Set after a catastrophic Outworld invasion that devastated modern London, Tides of Annihilation follows Gwendolyn, the sole survivor of the event, as she travels between the ruins of the contemporary world and the mythic land of Avalon. Her goal is to save humanity and rescue her missing sister. Along this journey she uncovers the hidden stories of the Knights of the Roundtable and the darker forces behind the invasion itself. The new gameplay sequence suggests an emotional subplot involving Lamorak, whose suffering is tied directly to Tyronoe.

A major gameplay pillar highlighted in the trailer is the Knights System. This mechanic allows Gwendolyn to summon and command spectral Knights of the Roundtable to join her in combat. The showcase introduces a new component called the Dual Frontline Battle System, which allows players to control both Gwendolyn and Lamorak at the same time. During the boss fight, both characters coordinate attacks to dismantle Tyronoe’s magical defenses, reinforcing the idea that mastery of dual character control will play a significant role in high intensity encounters.

The trailer also presents the Mirror Folded Realm for the first time. This mysterious dimension exists parallel to the human world and manifests throughout the game in different shapes and forms. Tyronoe is one of the few beings capable of traveling freely between the two realms and harnesses powerful magical energy from within the Mirror Realm to amplify her attacks. The visual transformation between environments and the spectral distortions surrounding the witch emphasize the surreal nature of this alternate plane.

Despite the impressive showcase, Eclipse Glow Games did not confirm a release window. During Gamescom 2024, they mentioned an early target of 2026, although the date was not guaranteed. The game is planned for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S X, and the studio has now confirmed support for Xbox Play Anywhere, providing cross buy and cross progression between PC and Xbox platforms.

Earlier this year, the studio also confirmed that the PC version will support NVIDIA DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation, offering improved performance for players on GeForce RTX 50 Series hardware.
