Project TAL Is a Stunning New Open World Action RPG Slated for 2027
South Korean publisher WEMADE MAX and developer MADNGINE have officially unveiled Project TAL, an ambitious open world action RPG inspired by traditional Korean folklore and mythology. The announcement was accompanied by a visually striking reveal trailer, showcasing breathtaking visuals, fast-paced combat, and deeply emotional storytelling.
Scheduled for release on PC and consoles in 2027, Project TAL reimagines Korea’s iconic Tal masks through a mythological lens, blending ancient symbolism with modern fantasy. Players will explore a vast, immersive world filled with colossal beasts, cinematic battles, and a narrative centered on the theme of healing a wounded world.
At its core, Project TAL features cinematic and high-speed combat that encourages tactical precision and agility. Players can leap onto towering monsters to deliver critical strikes, exploit weak points, and chain together devastating combos and counterattacks. Every encounter is designed to feel dynamic and cinematic, reflecting MADNGINE’s focus on fluid animation and high-end technical artistry.
A key feature of Project TAL is its companion system, which reacts dynamically to the player’s fighting style and environment. Each NPC ally possesses a distinct role, personality, and combat specialty, whether defensive, supportive, or offensive. Companions will interact with the player and each other in real-time, creating organic moments such as catching a falling comrade or shielding the team from incoming attacks with a magical barrier.
Sohn Myun-seok, CEO of WEMADE MAX, described Project TAL as a heartfelt and globally competitive endeavor:
“Project TAL combines an emotionally resonant story about healing a wounded world with the exhilarating combat of a classic action RPG. With MADNGINE’s technical expertise and artistic vision, we’re creating a AAA open-world title built to compete on a global stage.”
The project represents a major evolution for MADNGINE, which previously collaborated with WEMADE MAX on the MMORPG Night Crows. Unlike that multiplayer title, Project TAL is a fully single-player, narrative-driven action RPG, focusing on emotional storytelling and immersive world-building rather than online play or blockchain elements.
According to the official press release, MADNGINE has adopted a new multi-production creative structure to develop several original franchises simultaneously. With Project TAL, the studio aims to push forward in high-end game development, embracing platform diversity and scalable technology to reach a global audience.
With its fusion of mythic artistry, intense combat, and cinematic storytelling, Project TAL could be one of the most visually and emotionally captivating RPGs to emerge from Korea’s growing game development scene.
