PlayStation Store Update Adds Full-Length User Reviews for All Players
After introducing a five-star rating system in 2023, PlayStation has now taken another major step toward improving community engagement by adding the ability for users to write full-length reviews for games they own on the PlayStation Store.
According to Push Square, this feature has been in testing for some time but is now officially available for all users through the web-browser version of the PlayStation Store. While the feature is currently not accessible via the console interface, this limitation makes sense since typing lengthy reviews using a controller would be far from ideal without a connected keyboard.
To submit a review, users simply need to log into their PlayStation account on the web version of the store, navigate to any game they already own, and scroll to the section where they would normally leave a rating. After selecting ‘Continue’, a new review screen appears, allowing users to add a title, write their full review (up to 4,000 characters), and include a spoiler tag if needed.
This enhancement marks another step toward making the PlayStation Store experience more dynamic and community driven, similar to platforms like Steam, which have long allowed detailed user reviews. However, the move also raises questions about potential review bombing, an issue that has affected several major titles in the past, including Helldivers 2.
Whether this system will enrich player discussions or invite the same controversies seen elsewhere remains to be seen, but for now, it’s a welcome addition that gives PlayStation players a bigger voice in the gaming ecosystem.
What do you think of this new review system? Will it help players make better choices or bring more chaos to the Store? Share your thoughts below!
