Phantom Blade Zero Hits 300K Steam Pre Orders as It Tracks at 73% of Black Myth Wukong

Phantom Blade Zero is building serious momentum ahead of its October 29, 2026 launch, with new estimates suggesting the Chinese action RPG has already reached approximately 300,000 Steam pre orders. According to Alinea Analytics, the game generated around 14.5$ million in Steam revenue within roughly 1 week of opening pre orders and has surpassed 1.6 million Steam wishlists, making it one of the strongest upcoming releases currently being tracked on the platform. These figures are third party estimates rather than official sales numbers from S GAME or Valve.

The most interesting comparison is Black Myth: Wukong. When aligned at 70 days before launch, Alinea estimates Phantom Blade Zero had sold around 286,000 Steam copies, equivalent to approximately 73% of Black Myth: Wukong's estimated 393,000 copies at the same point in its release cycle. It is also running roughly 6.4 times ahead of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, which was estimated at around 45,000 copies with 70 days remaining. Black Myth ultimately accelerated much faster as release approached, meaning Phantom Blade Zero is not currently tracking toward the same extraordinary trajectory, but operating within the same pre launch range remains an impressive position for S GAME's first AAA premium PC and console production.

Demand is also significantly more international than the Black Myth comparison might initially suggest. Alinea estimates that 29% of Phantom Blade Zero's Steam wishlists come from China, followed by 17% from the United States and 5% from Japan. S GAME officially opened Phantom Blade Zero pre orders on August 12 for PlayStation 5, Steam and Epic Games Store alongside an 11 minute trailer featuring Donnie Yen, who has worked as a creative consultant since 2023 and provides facial and motion capture for Mó Yuan.

The game is priced at 59.99$ for the Standard Edition and 69.99$ for the Digital Deluxe Edition in the United States. Built with Unreal Engine 5, Phantom Blade Zero combines Wuxia influences with S GAME's Kungfu Punk aesthetic, more than 30 primary weapons, over 20 Phantom Edges and combat based around dodging, deflecting, countering and chained martial arts attacks. Its strong Steam performance now places additional pressure on S GAME to deliver on optimization and gameplay quality when the game launches, particularly after the studio delayed the release from September 9 to October 29 to continue polishing the project.

Phantom Blade Zero does not need to become the next Black Myth: Wukong to qualify as a major success. Reaching approximately 73% of Wukong's Steam pace this far from launch already puts S GAME in an unusually strong position for its first AAA release. More importantly, the wishlist distribution suggests Chinese premium games are increasingly capable of building substantial audiences outside their domestic market. The challenge now shifts from marketing to execution. If combat, optimization and overall quality match the expectations created by years of impressive demonstrations, Phantom Blade Zero could become another major milestone for China's growing AAA gaming industry.

Could Phantom Blade Zero become the next major global AAA hit from China, or was Black Myth: Wukong a once in a generation phenomenon?
