NVIDIA’s RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell ‘Server’ Edition GPU to Launch in New 2U Configuration Later This Year

NVIDIA is expanding its flagship RTX PRO Blackwell GPU lineup into enterprise data centers with a new 2U server-based configuration, set to be offered later this year through some of the world’s most prominent server providers. The company announced the NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPU will be integrated into widely adopted rack-mounted systems from partners including Cisco, Dell Technologies, HPE, Lenovo, and Supermicro, enabling enterprises to accelerate the shift from traditional CPU systems to fully accelerated computing platforms.

These new 2U mainstream servers are designed to bring the power of the Blackwell architecture to a broader range of enterprise workloads, offering significant improvements in both performance and efficiency for applications spanning agentic AI, content creation, data analytics, scientific simulations, industrial modeling, and high-end graphics rendering. NVIDIA states that RTX PRO Servers can deliver up to 45 times the performance of CPU-only 2U systems, while providing 18 times greater energy efficiency, reducing operational costs in the process.

This launch builds on the RTX PRO Server family first revealed in May at COMPUTEX, which included rack-mounted configurations supporting two, four, or eight RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell GPUs. The addition of the new 2U model provides a more compact and accessible option for enterprises with space, power, or cooling limitations, while still offering the advanced capabilities required for modern AI workloads.

According to NVIDIA, these systems also serve as the backbone for the NVIDIA AI Data Platform, a customizable reference design for creating high-performance storage systems tailored for enterprise agentic AI applications. At SIGGRAPH, Dell announced updates to its Dell AI Data Platform, which integrates NVIDIA’s reference design, alongside its Dell PowerEdge R7725 2U servers. These updated servers feature two RTX PRO 6000 GPUs, NVIDIA AI Enterprise software, and NVIDIA networking, representing a complete, ready-to-deploy AI infrastructure solution.

With enterprise demand for AI acceleration continuing to grow, the addition of the 2U RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell configuration provides data centers with the flexibility to upgrade to GPU-powered systems without compromising on rack space. By combining high throughput with lower power consumption, these systems aim to give organizations a competitive edge in industries where performance and efficiency are critical.

Will the addition of a compact 2U RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell configuration encourage more enterprises to switch from CPU-heavy setups to accelerated GPU platforms?
