Nexon Games Announces Single-Player Korean Action-Adventure Game Woochi the Wayfarer for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC

Nexon Games has revealed its latest publishing project, Woochi the Wayfarer, a single-player action-adventure title developed by LoreVault Studio and inspired by The Tale of Jeon Woochi, a classic Korean novel. The announcement positions the game as a culturally rich experience, aiming to blend traditional Korean storytelling with global appeal.

The official reveal included a cinematic trailer, which showcases the grandeur and tone that the team is targeting using Unreal Engine 5. While visually impressive, the trailer does not yet provide direct insight into the gameplay, nor has Nexon Games provided a release date or release window. The game is currently confirmed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

In a press release, Nexon Games CEO Park Yong-hyun described Woochi the Wayfarer as “a fresh and unique play experience based on traditional Korean materials, while also having an emotional resonance that anyone around the world can relate to. We plan to present a game that will appeal to gamers of all cultures, telling an amazing story that fully showcases Nexon Games’ development capabilities and accumulated experience.”

The soundtrack is being composed by acclaimed Korean musician Jung Jae-il, whose work on the Oscar-winning film Parasite and the Netflix global hit Squid Game has received widespread recognition. The score draws from traditional Korean music, further emphasizing the game’s cultural roots while aiming to create an emotionally compelling atmosphere for players.

With its combination of heritage-inspired storytelling, Unreal Engine 5 visuals, and a score from one of Korea’s most respected composers, Woochi the Wayfarer has the potential to stand out as a unique cultural and artistic entry in the action-adventure genre. Fans will be watching closely to see if its gameplay matches the promise of its setting and presentation.

Do you think Woochi the Wayfarer can bring Korean folklore into the global spotlight the same way Black Myth: Wukong did for Chinese mythology?
