Nioh 3 Alpha Demo Feedback Highlights Key Gameplay, Visual, and Performance Improvements for 2026 Launch
Team NINJA and Koei Tecmo have published the official Alpha Demo Feedback Report for Nioh 3, highlighting a range of player-requested changes and improvements planned for the game’s final release. The feedback comes after a limited-time alpha demo was made available to PlayStation 5 users in June, offering the first hands-on experience of the highly anticipated sequel.
According to the survey results, Nioh 3 will benefit from a broad set of refinements, including:
More responsive controls and expanded customization options
Enemy difficulty balancing, adjusting encounters deemed overly punishing
Enhanced environmental quality, including lighting and visual textures
Stage design improvements, with clearer navigation and better exploration balance
Performance optimizations, aiming for a more stable framerate
Visually, one of the standout commitments is to refine the Global Illumination system, ensuring more realistic lighting behavior across stages. The developers also plan to reduce excessive fog, tweak areas that currently appear flat or overly matte, and elevate overall environmental detail for a richer and more immersive experience. These efforts aim to create better visual clarity without sacrificing artistic intent or mood.
While the improvements are based entirely on PlayStation 5 feedback, many PC players have expressed a desire to participate in a similar alpha test, especially given Team NINJA’s mixed track record with PC optimization in prior releases. Unfortunately, the report does not indicate any plans for a PC demo, making it unlikely that the development team will gather early performance data from the platform.
Originally revealed during PlayStation’s June 2025 State of Play, Nioh 3 marks a bold step forward for the franchise. Though it retains the signature Soulslike stamina-based combat, fast-paced action, and deep loot systems, the third entry introduces a new Ninja fighting style that can be switched dynamically mid-battle. This allows for greater tactical depth and combat variety. Additionally, Nioh 3 features revamped level design that supports a more exploratory, open-ended approach to missions and stages.
Despite some of the typical demo-era flaws, the alpha impressed many longtime fans and newcomers alike. Its refined mechanics and evolving visual style suggest Nioh 3 is well on its way to becoming a defining entry in the franchise.
Nioh 3 is set to launch in early 2026 on PlayStation 5 and PC, with further updates expected as development progresses. If you haven’t already, be sure to check the feedback summary and stay tuned for additional gameplay reveals and performance insights.
