MSI Launches MAG 274QP QD OLED X24 at $499
MSI continues expanding its rapidly growing OLED monitor portfolio with the launch of the MAG 274QP QD OLED X24, now available for $499 on Amazon US. The new model appears to be a close sibling to the MAG 272QP QD OLED released earlier this year, but with a few notable differences including confirmed use of Samsung’s 3rd generation QD OLED panel. The monitor is currently live on Amazon US.
MSI Targets the Mid Range OLED Gaming Market With 240 Hz QHD QD OLED
With OLED gaming monitors gaining momentum, MSI has been aggressively rolling out new models across its lineup from ultra high refresh flagships nearing 500 Hz to more accessible mid range offerings. As most consumers still avoid the $800 to $1000 OLED bracket, MSI’s MAG series aims to deliver premium visual performance without premium pricing.
The MAG 274QP QD OLED X24 features a 26.5 inch QHD panel (2560 x 1440) with a 240 Hz refresh rate, Adaptive Sync support, and ultra low 0.03 ms GtG response times. MSI has also included VESA ClearMR 13000 certification, ensuring improved motion clarity relative to competing mid range OLED screens.
Color performance is a major strength thanks to the QD OLED panel. The display covers 99 percent DCI P3, 98 percent Adobe RGB, and 138 percent sRGB, making it suitable for gaming and color sensitive workloads. MSI also advertises Delta E < 2 accuracy and true 10 bit color depth, supporting 1.07 billion colors.
Brightness performance remains unchanged from the 272QP with 200 nits SDR and up to 400 nits HDR, which remains one of the weaker aspects of both monitors.
After comparing specifications side by side, the MAG 274QP appears largely identical to the 272QP, but with two main distinctions:
Confirmed Samsung 3rd gen QD OLED panel
No USB Type C port with DP Alt Mode
Additionally, the 274QP model weighs 1 kg more according to MSI’s documentation. Display outputs remain unchanged, offering 2x HDMI 2.1 and 1x DisplayPort 1.4a.
Interestingly, the previously released MAG 272QP QD OLED launched at $420 in China, making the $499 US price tag of the newer model less competitive on paper. With stiff competition growing in the mid range OLED space, MSI may adjust pricing over the next several weeks.
The new MAG 274QP QD OLED X24 strengthens MSI’s OLED catalog and brings Samsung’s latest panel generation to a wider audience at a still accessible price point, even if early adopters may pay a slight premium.
Do you think the MAG 274QP justifies its higher price over the 272QP? Or should MSI have pushed for more aggressive pricing? Tell us in the comments.
