Mortal Kombat 1, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and More Join PS Plus Extra and Premium in August 2025

PlayStation has revealed the August 2025 lineup for its PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium game catalogs, featuring high-profile additions such as Mortal Kombat 1 and Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, alongside a variety of acclaimed titles across genres. In total, 11 new games are joining this month, with Premium subscribers also gaining access to two PlayStation Classics and a timed game trial.

For PS Plus Premium members, the full count rises to 12 titles thanks to a five-hour trial for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, giving players a taste of Hideo Kojima’s upcoming sequel before launch.

Day-One Release: Sword of the Sea

One of the highlights this month is Sword of the Sea, launching directly into PS Plus Extra on August 19. Developed by members of the team behind Journey, this artistic adventure was first revealed during a State of Play earlier in the year and promises serene exploration blended with dynamic traversal gameplay.

Other Notable Additions

Fans of tactical fantasy will find Unicorn Overlord, Vanillaware’s strategy RPG, now available on PS5 and PS4. One of 2024’s most praised indie titles, Indika, also joins the lineup, alongside the underwater narrative adventure Harold Halibut and the vibrant life-sim Coral Island.

Subscribers on PS5 will receive the native version of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, while PS4 players will get the Marvel’s Spider-Man: Game of the Year Edition, complete with all DLC. This month’s PlayStation Classics additions bring two horror icons back to modern hardware the original PS One versions of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, both available for PS5 and PS4.
