Minisforum Launches MS-A2 Mini Workstation PC Featuring 16-Core AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX, Starting at $871

Minisforum has officially introduced its latest compact powerhouse, the MS-A2 Mini Workstation PC, equipped with AMD’s cutting-edge Ryzen 9 9955HX processor. Designed for professionals seeking a powerful yet space-efficient solution, this mini PC delivers impressive compute capabilities with support for discrete GPU integration and extensive storage options.

Performance-Driven by AMD’s Flagship Mobile Processor

At the heart of the MS-A2 lies the Ryzen 9 9955HX, AMD’s highest-tier mobile processor based on the Zen 5 architecture. It features:

  • 16 cores / 32 threads

  • Boost clock up to 5.4 GHz

  • 64 MB L3 cache

  • Configurable TDP: 55–75W

While the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D is a strong alternative for mobile gaming, Minisforum opted for the non-3D version to better suit workstation applications and professional workloads.

High-Speed Memory & Massive Storage Support

The MS-A2 is engineered for flexibility and scalability:

  • Memory: Supports up to 96 GB DDR5-5600 via two SO-DIMM slots.

  • Storage: Features a U.2 NVMe slot (up to 15 TB), two PCIe 4.0 x4, and one PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD slot, delivering a combined storage capacity of up to 23 TB.

These specifications make the MS-A2 an ideal solution for data-intensive tasks, content creation, virtualization, and edge computing.

Discrete GPU Support in a Miniature Form Factor

One of the defining features of the MS-A2 is its PCIe 4.0 x16 expansion slot (operating at x8), enabling users to install a discrete GPU directly into the chassis or opt for an external GPU solution. This makes the system highly adaptable to rendering, AI, CAD, and 3D modeling workflows.

Despite its compact size (196 x 189 x 48 mm), the MS-A2 incorporates a robust thermal solution with a high-performance blower fan that channels airflow through the internal heatsink array and exhausts it through the top ventilation system.

Enterprise-Grade Connectivity & I/O

The MS-A2 delivers exceptional I/O capabilities for high-speed networking and peripheral support:

  • Front I/O: 2x USB 3.2 Gen1 (5 Gbps), 1x 3.5mm audio jack

  • Rear I/O:

    • 1x USB 2.0

    • 1x USB 3.2 Gen2 (10 Gbps)

    • 1x USB 3.2 Gen1 (5 Gbps)

    • 2x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C

    • 1x HDMI 2.1

    • 2x 2.5GbE RJ45 Ethernet ports

    • 2x 10GbE SFP+ high-speed network ports

    • Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3

This I/O configuration is particularly well-suited for networking professionals, developers, and creators working with large datasets and multi-device setups.

Configurations and Pricing

The Minisforum MS-A2 is available in multiple configurations:

  • Barebone (no RAM/SSD): $871 USD

  • 64 GB RAM + 1 TB SSD: $1,135 USD

  • 96 GB RAM + 2 TB SSD: $1,295 USD

All configurations are expected to begin shipping on August 10, 2025.
