Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.2 Brings Metal Gear Solid 4 to PC and Modern Consoles on 08 27 2026

Konami is continuing its steady return to the Metal Gear spotlight, and the February 2026 State of Play finally delivered the milestone longtime fans have been waiting for. Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.2 launches on 08 27 2026, bringing Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots to PC and multiple modern platforms for the first time, ending the game’s long era as a PlayStation 3 locked experience and opening the door for a much wider audience to play Solid Snake’s final mission.

The collection is confirmed for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2, and it does not stop at MGS 4. Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker is also included, letting players revisit the PSP era entry that became foundational to the modern Metal Gear formula. For fans who want deeper cuts, the special edition lineup also includes Metal Gear Ghost Babel, the Game Boy Color exclusive that many players missed entirely and that still holds up as a surprisingly modern feeling take on classic Metal Gear design.

Konami has not confirmed whether the franchise will continue with additional remakes or a new mainline entry after the recent revival push, but Master Collection Vol.2 is a highly strategic move regardless. Metal Gear Solid 4 has been one of the most requested re releases in modern gaming because of its platform limitation, and placing it into a multi platform collection instantly refreshes the franchise’s accessibility and relevance. From a gamer perspective, it is also a chance to revisit one of the most cinematic and mechanically distinct entries in the series without needing legacy hardware.

To pair with the Vol.2 announcement, Konami is also rolling out an update today for Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1. The update adds a higher resolution option for Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater, targeting sharper text and clearer visuals.

Konami is also pushing a value play to keep engagement high ahead of August. Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater is now available at 50% off its full price, giving players a strong reason to either catch up or replay before Vol.2 lands on 08 27 2026.

Now that Metal Gear Solid 4 is finally coming to more platforms, are you jumping in day one for the first time, or is this a replay run to bridge the gap until Konami reveals what is next for the series?
