Marvel’s Wolverine on Track for 2026 Release, Venom Game Still in Development – Rumor
Insomniac Games’ highly anticipated Marvel’s Wolverine is reportedly still on schedule for a 2026 release, while a separate Venom project remains in active development, according to a new report from MP1st.
Earlier this month, insider Tom Henderson suggested that gameplay for Marvel’s Wolverine could debut soon - either in a September State of Play or potentially at The Game Awards in December. Henderson also noted that internal playtesters have responded very positively to the game, and that a trailer is nearly ready.
Now, MP1st claims through anonymous sources that Wolverine’s development is progressing smoothly and the game remains on track for its planned 2026 launch window. While no new details were provided, this should reassure fans following concerns about delays after Insomniac’s major internal leaks last year.
The report also sheds light on Insomniac’s other Marvel project: Venom. Some fans had feared the game was canceled or paused after it was revealed in the studio’s leak, but MP1st’s sources confirm that it’s still in development.
According to the leak, this standalone Venom game will feature Eddie Brock as the host of the symbiote, following the events of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 where both Peter Parker and Harry Osborn briefly bonded with it. Brock will reportedly be portrayed more in line with his comic book counterpart, rather than Tom Hardy’s interpretation from Sony’s live-action films.
Additionally, Carnage is expected to appear in the Venom game. His involvement was teased in Spider-Man 2 through cult leader Cletus Kasady, who ominously declared:
“And when the Crimson Hour rolls over this Earth, it shall bring truth, judgement, and carnage.”
Given Carnage’s status in Marvel lore as Venom’s darker and more destructive offspring, his inclusion would be a natural fit. However, unlike Wolverine, the Venom project has yet to be officially confirmed by Insomniac or Sony, so fans should treat these details cautiously until a formal reveal.
With Marvel’s Wolverine set for 2026 and a Venom game still quietly in development, Insomniac continues to build out a connected Marvel gaming universe that could rival the scale of its Spider-Man franchise.
