MachineGames Confirms Plans for Another Wolfenstein Game: “We Have a Story to Tell”
While MachineGames has recently shifted its focus from Wolfenstein protagonist BJ Blazkowicz to the iconic Indiana Jones, the studio isn’t done with its Nazi-fighting roots. In a new NoClip documentary titled The Making of Wolfenstein, studio head Jerk Gustafsson confirmed that the team still has plans for another entry in the Wolfenstein series, describing it as a trilogy with “a story to tell.”
“We have always seen this as a trilogy. That journey for BJ, even during those first weeks at id, when we mapped out New Order, we still had the plan for at least [BJ], what would happen in the second one and what would happen in the third one. I think that's important to say, because - at least I hope - we're not done with Wolfenstein yet. We have a story to tell.”
The comment, spotted by PC Gamer, confirms that a third Blazkowicz-focused title has always been part of MachineGames’ vision since Wolfenstein: The New Order.
The last major entry in the franchise, Wolfenstein: Youngblood (2019), shifted focus to BJ’s daughters, while leaving fans waiting for the continuation of BJ’s arc. Since then, MachineGames has dedicated much of its effort to the Indiana Jones project with Bethesda and Lucasfilm Games.
Beyond the games, a Wolfenstein TV series is also in development through a collaboration between Amazon Prime Video and MachineGames, ensuring the series will remain active across multiple mediums.
Rumors previously suggested one of the studio’s projects had been cancelled, but these recent comments lay to rest any concerns that the long-awaited third Blazkowicz game had been dropped. For fans of one of gaming’s oldest FPS series, this is a strong indication that BJ Blazkowicz will eventually return to finish his fight.
Do you think MachineGames will continue BJ’s journey directly after The New Colossus, or could they surprise fans with a fresh narrative twist?
