Lovecraftian Survival Horror Shooter Beneath Arrives on PC and Consoles This Month

Fans of cosmic horror and deep-sea terror won’t have to wait much longer. Beneath, the Lovecraftian-themed survival horror shooter from developer Camel 101 and publisher Wired Productions, has finally received its official release dates. The game will launch on PC via Steam on October 27, 2025, followed by its console release on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 on October 28, 2025.

Camel 101, best known for developing atmospheric titles such as Those Who Remain and Syndrome, is once again diving into the realm of psychological horror. Both of those previous games established Camel 101’s reputation for crafting eerie, tension-driven experiences, with Those Who Remain also published by Wired Productions.

Alongside the release announcement, Camel 101 has launched a playable demo for Beneath as part of the October Steam Next Fest, which officially kicks off today, October 13, and runs until October 20. Players can dive into the demo right now to get a taste of the haunting underwater world before the full release later this month.

In Beneath, players step into the boots of Noah Quinn, a seasoned deep-sea diver who finds himself stranded beneath the ocean’s surface after what was supposed to be a routine dive. Alone in the crushing depths, Noah must navigate flooded corridors and alien horrors while scavenging for weapons, ammo, and oxygen. The game promises a blend of intense combat, psychological dread, and a haunting narrative inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s dark vision of the unknown.

As Steam’s third Next Fest event begins, Beneath is one of many highly anticipated demos available for players to experience. Even if you miss the festival window, don’t worry, many of the demos, including those available during the June event, often remain playable after the festival ends. So, if you can’t explore the deep during this week’s festivities, you can still return later to face the nightmares lurking in the abyss.

Will you dive into the horrors of Beneath? Share your thoughts on whether this underwater Lovecraftian thriller will be your next Halloween playthrough.
