First Look at Leon S. Kennedy in Resident Evil Requiem Arrives with New Trailer Revealed at The Game Awards 2025

After months of speculation, rumors, and leaks pointing to his return, CAPCOM has officially confirmed that Leon S. Kennedy will star in Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth installment in the long running survival horror franchise. Beloved for his roles in Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4, Leon appears older, battle worn, and more hardened than ever yet remains instantly recognizable as the character fans have followed for decades.

The debut came through a powerful new trailer shown during The Game Awards, offering the first official look at Leon in action. Alongside him, fans were introduced to a new villain named Dr. Gideon, glimpses of the world’s escalating horrors, and a brief but intense segment of Leon focused gameplay that showcases visceral and brutal combat direction.

The timing of this reveal is notable. Resident Evil Requiem launches in just over two months on February twenty seven 2026, making this the first substantial look at how Leon plays and how combat will evolve in the new entry. With two protagonists Grace and Leon CAPCOM is expected to share additional insights soon on the distinctions between their combat styles, traversal, and the enemies they will encounter. These differences may be key to shaping a varied and dynamic campaign experience.

What is already clear is that atmosphere remains front and center. Reports from early hands on previews including a demo showcased at Gamescom 2025 highlight CAPCOM’s refined environmental tension, lighting design, and unsettling creature encounters. Even in less than ideal demo conditions, the tone and mood were strong enough to leave confident impressions about the direction of this latest entry.

With Leon returning in a more seasoned form and CAPCOM pushing both narrative weight and intense combat, Resident Evil Requiem is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated releases of early 2026.
