KILLER INN Hosts Closed Beta Test This Weekend on Steam

Square Enix and Tactic Studios have announced a Closed Beta Test (CBT) for their upcoming asymmetrical multiplayer game KILLER INN, scheduled to run from Friday, July 25, 2025 at 3 PM PT to Monday, July 28, 2025 at 3 PM PT. Players eager to step into the deadly halls of the mysterious inn can request access directly through the official Steam store page:

This weekend’s CBT marks the first major public stress test of the game’s infrastructure, with developers clarifying that the primary goal is to evaluate server performance under load. As such, the version available to players will be missing certain onboarding elements like tutorials, which are expected to be present in the full version at launch.

KILLER INN delivers a high-stakes, social deception twist on the competitive multiplayer format, dividing players into two roles: Lambs and Wolves. Out of 24 total players per match, 16 are assigned the role of Lambs, while 8 become Wolves. The Wolves are aware of each other's identities from the start, while the Lambs remain in the dark, unsure of who among them may turn on them at any moment.

Victory is achieved by completely eliminating the opposing team—but it’s not just about brute force. The Wolves must carefully execute their kills, as each murder leaves behind clues. Lambs must gather these clues to uncover the identities of the Wolves before it's too late. Interacting with corpses and collecting evidence is a critical mechanic, adding a strong investigative element to the gameplay.

To survive and stand a chance in combat, players must equip themselves with weapons and armor, obtained either by completing quests from NPC castle staff members to earn tokens and unlock chests, or by saving gold to purchase items from the in-game shop. These mechanics introduce a layer of RPG-style progression and strategy to each match.

With its unique combination of PvP combat, deduction, and social deception, KILLER INN presents a refreshing take on the multiplayer genre. The Closed Beta will be a key opportunity for players to get a firsthand look at this innovative blend while providing feedback to help shape the final experience.

Will you enter the inn and uncover the killer among you—or become one yourself? Let us know in the comments!
