Hytopia Launches SkyGarden MMORPG in Open Beta

Hytopia, the blockchain-powered game platform often compared to Roblox for its user-generated ecosystem, has officially launched its newest flagship title, SkyGarden, now available in open beta through the platform’s official website. The title is a free-to-play farming MMORPG that immediately evokes comparisons to Minecraft, which makes sense given that the development team includes former Minecraft artist Sebu and is led by noted web developer Shrimp.

SkyGarden allows players to create and manage farms where they can grow crops, raise cattle, and design custom decorations to personalize their land. The game features a persistent world mechanic where crops continue to grow even while the player is offline, requiring regular check-ins to harvest produce and manage resources effectively. The combination of farming simulation, creative customization, and MMO-style community interaction positions SkyGarden as one of the most ambitious projects on the Hytopia platform to date.

This launch is considered a significant milestone for Hytopia as it continues to expand its game portfolio while also incentivizing new developers to contribute. The platform has been offering $25,000 rewards to developers who can create and release a game within 90 days, a strategy designed to rapidly expand both its content library and player engagement. By combining a familiar sandbox aesthetic with blockchain integration and creator-driven growth, Hytopia is seeking to carve a unique space in the evolving gaming landscape.

Do you think blockchain-backed platforms like Hytopia can succeed in building communities as large and dedicated as Roblox or Minecraft?
