HP Launches OmniDesk Mini With Intel Wildcat Lake and Up to 16 GB LPDDR5X

HP has launched its new OmniDesk Mini, bringing Intel Core Series 3 Wildcat Lake processors into an ultra compact desktop measuring just 130 x 130 x 48 mm and weighing approximately 0.475 kg. The new system targets home offices, productivity, media, and compact desktop environments while offering Intel AI acceleration, fast LPDDR5X memory, and dual M.2 expansion inside a chassis significantly smaller than a traditional tower.

The entry configuration uses an Intel Core 3 304 with 5 cores, 5 threads, boost frequencies reaching 4.3 GHz, and Intel AI Boost delivering up to 15 NPU TOPS. Buyers can move up to the Core 5 320, which provides 6 cores, 6 threads, a maximum 4.6 GHz frequency, and up to 16 NPU TOPS. Memory options range from 8 GB to 16 GB of onboard LPDDR5X 8533, with Intel integrated graphics handling display output.

Storage begins with a 256 GB PCIe Gen 3 NVMe SSD, while HP offers 512 GB, 1 TB, and 2 TB PCIe Gen 4 configurations. The motherboard provides 2 M.2 slots, giving the compact system additional expansion flexibility even though the LPDDR5X memory itself is onboard and cannot be upgraded.

Connectivity includes 3 USB C ports, 2 USB A ports, HDMI 2.0b, Gigabit Ethernet, audio connectivity, and DisplayPort 2.1 output through supported USB C connections. Wireless configurations include Wi Fi 6 with Bluetooth 5.4 or Intel Wi Fi 6E with Bluetooth 5.3. Power comes from a compact 100 W USB C GaN adapter.

HP originally introduced the OmniDesk Mini family at Computex 2026, where it positioned the platform as a compact AI ready desktop capable of replacing larger systems in modern workspaces. Higher specification versions of the wider OmniDesk Mini family can extend into Core Ultra Series 3 processors with significantly stronger NPU performance, but the newly available Wildcat Lake configurations focus on the more accessible end of the market.

Wildcat Lake is also beginning to spread quickly across the Mini PC market. The same Core 3 304 already powers the MINISFORUM M2 Air 304, showing Intel's lower power Core Series 3 platform moving beyond notebooks into increasingly small desktop systems.

Current pricing depends heavily on configuration and promotion. HP's US store currently lists a Core 3 304 configuration with 8 GB memory and a 512 GB SSD at $879.99 MSRP, while Core 5 configurations scale upward depending on memory and storage.

The OmniDesk Mini is not trying to compete with the growing wave of 100 TOPS class AI workstations. Its appeal is much simpler: a very small Windows desktop with modern Intel hardware, fast memory, useful connectivity, and enough expansion for everyday productivity.

The biggest limitation is the soldered memory. 16 GB is reasonable for office and general home workloads, but it restricts the system's long term flexibility at a time when many competing Mini PCs offer replaceable DDR5. HP's stronger advantage is the compact design and straightforward mainstream positioning, particularly for users who want something closer to an appliance than a hobbyist Mini PC.
