HoYoVerse Announces New Creature Collector Strategy Game Honkai: Nexus Anima
HoYoVerse (formerly miHoYo) has revealed its next major project, Honkai: Nexus Anima - a creature collector strategy game set in the same universe as Honkai: Star Rail. Unlike its RPG predecessor, Nexus Anima offers a bold departure in gameplay style while retaining the studio’s signature narrative depth and high-quality artistry.
A New Chapter in the Honkai Universe
According to HoYoVerse, players will step into the shoes of a plane-hopping traveler who escapes captivity and embarks on a journey that begins in a quiet town before expanding into uncharted realms. Along the way, they’ll encounter Anima companions - creatures with unique personalities that can bond with the player both in exploration and combat.
These companions fight alongside the traveler in Nexus Battles, a system that combines strategic elements with character-driven storytelling. As the mystery of the protagonist’s past unfolds, players will form lasting connections with their Anima, blending narrative immersion with tactical decision-making.
HoYoVerse describes the game as:
“The latest major entry in the Honkai series, Honkai: Nexus Anima continues to deliver the franchise’s signature high-quality storytelling and artistic style, while marking a bold new chapter in both gameplay and worldbuilding.”

Why It Matters
Following the global phenomenon of Genshin Impact and the success of Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero, HoYoVerse has built an enormous reputation for innovative worldbuilding and live-service longevity. Honkai: Nexus Anima represents not just a gameplay evolution, but also an expansion of the Honkai IP into new genres, potentially broadening its audience beyond RPG fans.
With its mix of narrative-driven exploration and strategic creature collecting, Nexus Anima could be one of HoYoVerse’s most ambitious titles yet.
