Helldivers 2: Into the Unjust Major Update Arrives Next Week, Adds Hive Worlds and Dragon Bugs
As Helldivers 2 officially launches on Xbox Series X/S today, Arrowhead Games has revealed a detailed deep-dive into its next major expansion, Into the Unjust, which arrives on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S on September 2, 2025. This marks the game’s biggest update since the Heart of Democracy earlier this year and comes with a massive lineup of new content and challenges.
Into the Caves of the Hive Worlds
Unlike traditional missions on the open battlefield, Into the Unjust takes Helldivers into the subterranean caves of the Hive Worlds, the breeding grounds of the Terminid enemy. For the first time, players will be without their orbiting Super Destroyer’s support, forced to rely solely on teamwork, heavy weapons, and even flashlights to illuminate the tunnels.
Two new main missions anchor the update:
Oil Rig Defense (Surface Mission): Defend Super Earth’s oil-mining rigs on Terminid planets against relentless enemy swarms.
Hive Lung Assault (Underground Mission): Navigate a labyrinth of caves to locate and destroy the Hive Lung, striking at the heart of Terminid territory.
A trailer showcases the dangerous new setting, emphasizing both the claustrophobic combat and the sheer scale of the new threats awaiting players.
New Enemies: From Mole Bugs to Dragonroach
With new planets come new enemies. The update introduces mole-type bugs that burrow underground and ambush unsuspecting squads, along with the terrifying Dragonroach, a massive dragon-like insect that spits acidic bile from above. Arrowhead even teased a colossal subterranean creature—possibly a worm-like monstrosity—that remains shrouded in mystery until players face it themselves next week.
New Gear, Warbonds, and Halo Collaboration
To counter these threats, Helldivers gain access to new weapons and the Dust Devils Warbond, which will launch alongside the update. In addition, today marks the debut of a groundbreaking crossover: the Halo ODST Warbond. This collaboration is particularly historic as it represents the first time Halo content is available on a PlayStation platform, offering fans a rare fusion of two iconic sci-fi franchises.
A Major Step Forward
Arrowhead describes Into the Unjust as the most significant update to Helldivers 2 so far. With new planets, enemies, missions, and cross-franchise content, it not only evolves gameplay but also celebrates the arrival of Xbox players joining the Helldivers ranks for the first time.
The war for Super Earth expands underground next week, and it looks like the galaxy’s deadliest bugs are bringing even bigger threats with them.
