Halo: Campaign Evolved Requires RTX 4080 and 32GB RAM for 4K Ultra as Unreal Engine 5 Replaces Slipspace

Halo Studios has confirmed the full PC requirements for Halo: Campaign Evolved, giving players a clearer look at what the Unreal Engine 5 remake will demand when it launches on July 28, 2026. The game was shown again during the Xbox Games Showcase 2026, where Microsoft confirmed pre orders, pricing, early access, and the franchise first PlayStation 5 launch. Halo: Campaign Evolved is set to release on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. Players who purchase the Premium Edition will gain access 5 days earlier, starting July 23, 2026. The Premium Edition is priced at 79.99$, which is 20$ more than the Standard Edition.

The most important technical change is the move to Unreal Engine 5. Halo Studios, formerly known as 343 Industries, has stepped away from the Slipspace engine that powered Halo Infinite. This change marks a major reset for the franchise’s technology pipeline and could give the remake a stronger visual foundation, especially as Halo: Campaign Evolved aims to modernize the original Halo: Combat Evolved campaign for current platforms.

The Xbox store page also mentions ray tracing support. Halo Infinite added ray traced sun shadows in a later update, but that feature only applied to multiplayer. Halo: Campaign Evolved will therefore be the first Halo title to offer ray tracing inside the campaign.

The PC requirements show that Halo: Campaign Evolved will scale across a wide range of systems, but the Ultra preset is clearly aimed at powerful modern hardware.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is not simply a visual remake of Combat Evolved. The game also adds 3 new missions featuring Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson. These missions expand the campaign experience, giving players new content beyond the original structure. However, competitive multiplayer has been removed from this release, making the campaign the main focus.

That decision may disappoint players hoping for a full remake package, but Halo Studios is clearly positioning Campaign Evolved around story, campaign replayability, and cooperative play. The campaign will support full 4 player co op and crossplay, which should make it easier for players across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S to experience the remake together.

The move away from Slipspace is one of the most important long term decisions for Halo. Halo Infinite faced heavy scrutiny over its development challenges, content pipeline, and technical direction. By shifting to Unreal Engine 5, Halo Studios may be building a more flexible foundation for future projects, while also using Campaign Evolved as the first public test of this new development direction.

The PC requirements also suggest that the remake is not being built as a light nostalgia release. Halo: Campaign Evolved appears to be a modernized production with higher visual targets, ray tracing, expanded content, and demanding Ultra settings. For PC players aiming for the full 4K Ultra experience, the hardware bar is serious.

Halo: Campaign Evolved launches July 28, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, with Premium Edition early access beginning July 23.

Are you excited to see Halo move to Unreal Engine 5, or are you concerned that the RTX 4080 Ultra requirement is too demanding for a campaign remake?
