GTA VI $399.99 Vice City Collector’s Box Includes 11 Items but No Game
Rockstar Games has opened preorders for the Grand Theft Auto VI Goodtime State Vice City Collection, a $399.99 premium Collector’s Box built around 11 listed product categories but containing more individual pieces once the multi item sets are counted. The limited package arrives on November 19, the same day GTA VI launches for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but Rockstar explicitly states that the game is sold separately.
The distinction between a Collector’s Box and a Collector’s Edition matters here. Rockstar is not positioning the package as a premium version of GTA VI containing the software. Instead, it is a separate merchandise collection inspired by Macca the Gator and Leonida.

The advertised 11 item count therefore refers to 11 product categories rather than 11 individual physical objects. Once the 9 pins and 9 stickers are counted separately, buyers receive considerably more individual pieces than the headline number suggests.
At $399.99, the collection costs 5 times the $79.99 price of the GTA VI Standard Edition and 4 times the $99.99 Ultimate Edition before shipping or tax. Rockstar also notes that the Collector’s Box is not eligible for free shipping. GTA VI itself must therefore be purchased separately through one of the available editions. Rockstar opened game preorders in June, with the Standard Edition priced at $79.99 and Ultimate Edition at $99.99.
The price also represents a major increase over Rockstar’s previous merchandise only collector package. Red Dead Redemption 2 received a separate Collector’s Box in 2018 that sold for $99.99, also without the game. Rockstar explicitly described Red Dead Redemption 2 as being sold separately, allowing buyers to pair the physical collectibles with whichever game edition they wanted. The GTA VI box follows the same basic model at roughly 4 times the nominal launch price.
The comparison with Grand Theft Auto V is even more striking because Rockstar handled that release differently. GTA V launched with a conventional Collector’s Edition priced at $149.99 that included the game alongside physical and digital extras. GTA VI instead separates its premium physical collectibles completely from the software.
Rockstar has also been moving away from traditional physical game ownership with GTA VI itself. The boxed console version goes on sale November 12 but contains a download code rather than a playable disc, allowing customers to preload the game before launch, the GTA VI code in box release could accelerate the decline of physical games. The $399.99 Collector’s Box takes that separation even further by making the physical product entirely about memorabilia rather than ownership of the software.
Rockstar says the collection is limited, with preorders available while supplies last. The company initially confirmed availability for North America and Europe, with additional ordering details still to come for Asia, Latin America, and Australia.
The absence of GTA VI itself is less unusual than the $399.99 price suggests. Rockstar already separated Red Dead Redemption 2 from its Collector’s Box in 2018, so the basic model is not new. What has changed dramatically is how much Rockstar believes premium physical memorabilia can command around one of gaming’s largest launches.
The full breakdown also makes the package look more substantial than the simple 11 item label suggests, especially once the pin and sticker sets are counted individually. Even so, buyers should be clear about what the $399.99 pays for. This is a premium GTA VI merchandise collection, not a $400 edition of the game.
