Gigabyte Introduces AORUS RTX 5060 Ti AI BOX eGPU with Thunderbolt 5 and Near-Desktop Performance
Gigabyte has announced the AORUS RTX 5060 Ti AI BOX, a compact external GPU solution powered by NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB. Designed for gamers, creators, and AI workloads, the new AI BOX delivers performance remarkably close to its desktop counterpart while offering the portability and convenience of an eGPU.
The device leverages NVIDIA’s Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4 technology, making it a capable option for both gaming and creative applications. Connectivity is handled through Thunderbolt 5 with daisy-chain support, supplemented by three USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, an Ethernet port, and Power Delivery 3.0 for fast charging. Gigabyte has also equipped the AI BOX with its WINDFORCE cooling system, ensuring stable performance within a compact chassis that measures just 243 × 117 × 48 mm. Customizable RGB lighting rounds out the design, keeping in line with Gigabyte’s AORUS aesthetics.
Performance testing shows the AORUS RTX 5060 Ti AI BOX achieves a 3DMark Time Spy Graphics score of 14,669, compared to 15,441 for a desktop PCIe RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB. This represents only about a five percent performance difference, highlighting how effectively Thunderbolt 5 enables near-desktop capabilities in a portable form factor.
While Gigabyte has not disclosed final pricing, the AI BOX is expected to retail for under $1,000 USD, given the desktop RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB’s $429 MSRP. Positioned as a more accessible alternative to the larger RTX 5090 AI BOX, this new solution offers strong performance for users who need desktop-class graphics on the go.
With its combination of high efficiency, portability, and cutting-edge connectivity, the AORUS RTX 5060 Ti AI BOX strengthens Gigabyte’s AI BOX lineup and offers a compelling new option for laptop and mobile PC users seeking enhanced GPU performance.
