Gearbox Reveals New Borderlands 4 Post-Launch Details at PAX Australia

Gearbox Software took the stage at PAX Australia 2025 to reveal exciting new details about Borderlands 4’s post-launch plans. The developer shared an official update on its website outlining upcoming seasonal content, a major holiday-themed DLC, and new in-game events to keep Vault Hunters busy through the end of the year.

The highlight of the presentation was the announcement of the first paid DLC, titled How Rush Saved Mercenary Day, which will launch on November 20, 2025. Perfectly timed for the holiday season, the DLC follows Rush as he battles homesickness and sets out to bring back the festive spirit of Mercenary Day. His plans are interrupted by Screw, the minister of culture for the Timekeeper, who aims to cancel the holiday. Rush’s mission quickly turns into a fight to save Mercenary Day and restore cheer across the galaxy.

In addition to its story content, How Rush Saved Mercenary Day will include a wide range of new cosmetics such as weapon skins, Echo device attachments, Vault Hunter outfits, and vehicle skins. Players can also look forward to four new legendary weapons and a new vehicle. Owners of the Deluxe or Super Deluxe editions of Borderlands 4 will receive this DLC automatically as part of their package on November 20. Other players can purchase it separately or as part of the upcoming Bounty Pack bundle.

Beyond paid DLC, Gearbox also revealed new free seasonal events coming to the game. The Horrors of Kairos event begins on October 23, aligning with Halloween celebrations. During this event, players will have the chance to earn exclusive loot, including the Murmur, a legendary assault rifle, and Skully, a legendary grenade.

In December, players can take on an all-new challenge with Bloomreaper the Invincible, a powerful new raid boss set to appear later in the year.

These announcements round out the rest of Borderlands 4’s 2025 content roadmap. Gearbox confirmed that the game’s first major story expansion is expected to launch in Q1 2026, continuing the studio’s long tradition of post-launch support for the Borderlands franchise.

Meanwhile, the latest Borderlands 4 update, released earlier this month, focused on performance improvements and balance adjustments for all Vault Hunters. Fans are hopeful that the upcoming months will bring further refinements and stability updates alongside the newly announced content.
