First Battlefield 6 Tweaks Were Rolled Out Without a Patch

The teams behind Battlefield 6, collectively known as Battlefield Studios (DICE, Ripple Effect Studios, Criterion Games, and Motive Studio), announced via the official Battlefield Communications X account that the first wave of gameplay balance adjustments has been released without requiring a client patch. These small but meaningful updates were deployed server-side, allowing players to experience immediate changes without any downloads.

According to the developers, the following updates have been applied:

  • Increased ticket count for certain Rush maps to the intended amount of 100 (up from 75).

  • Reduced the muzzle velocity of the M2010 ESR from 900 m/s to 800 m/s.

  • Reduced the muzzle velocity of the PSR from 750 m/s to 720 m/s.

  • Shotgun projectiles will now account for drag, improving realism and balance.

While these are early adjustments, Battlefield Studios confirmed that this is only the beginning of ongoing live balance tuning. Following its successful launch, Battlefield 6 has achieved record-breaking concurrency numbers on Steam and received strong critical acclaim. However, community feedback continues to highlight areas for refinement, meaning more updates and balancing efforts will follow in the coming weeks.

In related community news, Reddit users have reported that the studios’ collaboration with Sony and Microsoft to combat cheating through Cronus Zen devices is showing concrete results. Multiple reports on Reddit indicate that the first permanent bans are being issued to players detected using Cronus Zen scripts on PlayStation 5 and other platforms.

In response, representatives associated with the Cronus Zen team have reportedly advised users to stop using their devices in Battlefield 6 until further notice:

“We’re currently advising all Battlefield 6 players, especially those on PC using the Zen with any of our latest scripts, to pause usage for now. The team is actively testing to understand what’s causing it and ensure everything remains safe and stable. Please avoid using the Zen in Battlefield 6 until we confirm it’s fine to resume. We also ask that no one publicly shares or discusses any bans, as this draws unnecessary attention to the community and makes testing more difficult.”

The developers’ proactive stance and close cooperation with platform holders mark a strong early commitment to maintaining fair play and competitive integrity in Battlefield 6, while continuing to enhance balance and performance through agile, patch-free updates.

What do you think of DICE’s decision to push balance changes without patches? Should more live-service games take this approach?
