Final Fantasy VII Revelation Leak Reveals Story Expansion Pass and Multiple DLC Plans

Square Enix may be preparing substantial post launch support for Final Fantasy VII Revelation, as newly surfaced Epic Games Store database entries reference multiple downloadable content items, premium editions, advance purchase bonuses, and a Story Expansion Pass.

The information comes from the Final Fantasy VII Revelation listing on EpicDB, an independent database tracker that monitors changes connected to the Epic Games Store. The current page lists a Premium Edition, Premium Plus Edition, Digital Contents Pack, Story Expansion Pass, and several numbered DLC identifiers. It also shows that the main database record was last modified on July 2, 2026.

The exact number of consumer DLC releases remains unclear. The tracker currently includes DLC1 and DLC3 through DLC9, while DLC2 is absent. Several entries are also repeated as staging, audience, or internal variants, meaning they may represent testing records rather than separate products. Early reports described as many as 7 DLC packs, while other interpretations counted 9 possible add ons. Until Square Enix provides official confirmation, the database should be treated as evidence of planned content rather than a finalized release roadmap.

The most significant entry is the Story Expansion Pass. Its name suggests Square Enix may be planning narrative content that continues beyond the base game or expands events surrounding the trilogy’s conclusion. However, the listing does not reveal how many expansions would be included, when they would launch, or whether the pass name is only an internal placeholder.

A major story expansion would follow the precedent established by Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and its INTERmission chapter, which introduced a separate adventure focused on Yuffie. Smaller DLC releases for Remake and Rebirth have also included summons, equipment, accessories, and digital bonuses, making it possible that many of the numbered entries are minor content packs rather than full narrative additions.

The possibility of DLC for the trilogy’s final chapter has already been discussed by director Naoki Hamaguchi. During a Tokyo Game Show 2025 interview, he explained that Square Enix had considered DLC for Rebirth but prioritized completing the third game without affecting its schedule or overall quality.

"Once we release the third installment, there is the possibility of having a DLC for that third installment."
— Naoki Hamaguchi

Final Fantasy VII Revelation is scheduled to launch in Spring 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Square Enix describes the game as the final confrontation with Sephiroth and the conclusion of the Remake trilogy, with the Highwind opening the world to broader aerial exploration. Final Fantasy VII Revelation will bring back Rebirth locations while greatly expanding exploration through the Highwind. The game will also feature a larger postgame structure, returning outfits, powerful optional enemies, and content designed to challenge players after the main story ends.

A Story Expansion Pass would give Square Enix an opportunity to continue exploring the wider Final Fantasy VII universe after the remake trilogy reaches its main conclusion. Potential material could include characters and events connected to Dirge of Cerberus, Advent Children, Crisis Core, or entirely original stories created for the new continuity.

The word Pass may indicate more than one narrative release, although the database alone cannot confirm that interpretation. Square Enix could also be preparing the commercial structure in advance while leaving the final content dependent on development capacity, player demand, and the performance of the base game.

The most important point is that Revelation may not represent the absolute end of Square Enix’s modern Final Fantasy VII project. Even after Cloud and the party complete their final battle against Sephiroth, the studio appears to be establishing a framework that could keep the world active through additional stories and downloadable content.

Would you prefer a Revelation story expansion focused on Dirge of Cerberus, Advent Children, or a completely original chapter created for the Remake timeline?
