EA to Reveal Skate Early Access Release Date Today

After years of anticipation and speculation, Electronic Arts will finally reveal the early access release date for its next Skate game today August 26, 2025, with a new trailer premiering at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 5pm BST. The reveal follows today’s announcement of the game’s official cover art, marking the most significant update since June when EA first confirmed that Skate would be launching in early access this summer.

With summer nearly over, EA has limited time to deliver on its promise of a summer launch. This timing has sparked speculation that Skate could be shadow-dropped alongside the trailer, though it may just as easily arrive in the coming weeks. The game has been in closed playtesting for months, so it’s possible EA is simply waiting for the right moment to unleash it on the wider public.

When EA first confirmed the return of Skate in 2021, excitement for what many fans thought would be Skate 4 was at a fever pitch. But over time, enthusiasm has cooled, in part because of EA’s decisions around the new installment. Unlike the classic entries in the series, this new version of Skate is live service-focused and will require players to be always online, two factors that have drawn criticism and skepticism from longtime fans.

Despite those concerns, early access could provide the community with a real chance to weigh in on development, giving EA and developer Full Circle valuable feedback as the game evolves.

Whether the game drops today or in the weeks ahead, fans will finally get a concrete timeline after years of uncertainty. For better or worse, Skate is about to return, and its early access phase will determine how well the series adapts to a modern, service-driven model.

Do you think EA made the right move turning Skate into a live service game, or should it have stuck to the classic formula?
