Xbox Delivers April’s Second Game Pass Wave With Aphelion, Kiln, Trepang2, Final Fantasy V, and More

Xbox has officially revealed the second wave of Xbox Game Pass additions for April 2026, and this lineup feels much stronger than the first half of the month thanks to a healthier mix of true new arrivals, day one launches, and a few notable library additions that give the service a more meaningful boost heading into May. According to Xbox’s official April 2026 Wave 2 update, the new batch includes titles like Kiln, Aphelion, Trepang2 and Final Fantasy V, along with a couple of titles now expanding into additional Game Pass tiers.

The most immediate additions arrive on April 21, when Little Rocket Lab and Sopa: Tale of the Stolen Potato join Game Pass Premium while remaining available through Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. On the same day, Vampire Crawlers: The Turbo Wildcard from Vampire Survivors launches day one into Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass across cloud, Xbox Series X|S, handheld, and PC. Xbox describes it as a turn based, rogue lite, card driven dungeon experience from the creators of Vampire Survivors, making it one of the more unusual additions in this wave.

The wave continues on April 23 with Kiln, another day one title that heads straight into Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Xbox is pitching it as a pottery focused multiplayer battler built around both creation and destruction, which is exactly the kind of weird and stylish smaller scale project that often performs well on subscription services. Then, on April 28, Aphelion arrives day one for cloud, Xbox Series X|S, handheld, and PC. Developed by DON’T NOD, the game is framed by Xbox as a third person sci fi adventure centered on astronaut Ariane after a crash landing on a frozen planet, with the story developed in partnership with the European Space Agency. That alone makes it one of the most intriguing additions in this batch, especially for players looking for a more narrative heavy science fiction experience.

April 29 brings Trepang2 to the service across cloud, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, available through Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium, and PC Game Pass. For players who like aggressive, fast moving shooters, this is one of the bigger pickups in the second wave. The month then closes with three more arrivals on April 30: Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era in Game Preview for PC, Sledding Game in Game Preview across cloud, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and TerraTech Legion across the same platforms. All three are joining day one except TerraTech Legion, which still stands out as a solid addition for players into build driven action gameplay.

The final notable addition in this wave lands a few days later, with Final Fantasy V entering the library on May 5 for cloud, Xbox Series X|S, and PC across Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium, and PC Game Pass. Its arrival is especially welcome because it rounds out the early numbered Final Fantasy lineup on the service even further, giving classic RPG fans another strong legacy entry to revisit.

Here is the full official lineup for the remainder of the wave:

As always, new arrivals also mean departures. Xbox has confirmed that 9 games will leave the service on April 30, including Citizen Sleeper, Creatures of Ava, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, Endless Legend 2, Goat Simulator, Goat Simulator Remastered, Hunt Showdown 1896, NHL 24 through EA Play, and Revenge of the Savage Planet. That outgoing list gives this wave a bit more weight, since a few of those departures are not filler removals and will likely sting for players who have been putting them off.

Overall, this second April wave looks like a much better value proposition than the first one. Between the day one drops, the arrival of Aphelion, the addition of Trepang2, and the classic RPG boost from Final Fantasy V, Xbox has put together a lineup that feels more varied and more relevant to different kinds of players. It may not be an all timer month, but it is a healthy mid cycle refresh for the subscription catalog and a much stronger close to April than the opening batch delivered. That last assessment is an editorial judgment based on the official lineup.

Which game from this second April Game Pass wave are you jumping into first, Aphelion, Trepang2, Final Fantasy V, or one of the day one indies?
