Dying Light: The Beast Launches With New Trailer, Steam Deck Verification, and Praise From Techland

After years of anticipation, Dying Light: The Beast is officially out now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Following a delay earlier this year - and an unexpected decision to move the release date forward - Techland has brought the third mainline installment of its parkour-driven survival horror franchise to players worldwide.

The trailer provides another glimpse at the fast-paced gameplay that defines the series while offering a story recap, reintroducing fans to protagonist Kyle Crane, who returns as the central figure in The Beast.

Steam Deck Verified at Launch

Alongside the global release, Techland confirmed that Dying Light: The Beast is officially Steam Deck Verified. This ensures players can take their experience on the go without compromises. According to Tomasz Szałkowski, Rendering and Audio Director at Techland, this was a personal goal throughout development:

“I was personally driven to make sure the game would run on Steam Deck. We created a dedicated performance mode with a mix of optimized settings and unique tweaks, along with HDR and VRR support running smoothly on OLED displays.”

This special attention to portable performance reflects Techland’s push to broaden the accessibility of its flagship franchise while maintaining technical quality across different platforms.

The release of The Beast has been met with enthusiasm by Techland’s leadership. In an official press statement, Paweł Marchewka, Chief Executive Officer at Techland, praised the development team:

“Dying Light is back, and I couldn't be more proud of my team and the game we created. Their passion, dedication, and hard work have resulted in something truly great. This project taught us more than any before about the importance of staying true to the core elements of our IP. For players, it's an exciting return to the roots of the series, and for us, we're back on the right track.”

Tymon Smektała, Franchise Director, described the release as both a personal and community milestone:

Dying Light: The Beast is our love letter to the series and to the incredible Dying Light community. Our players have stood with us through highs and lows, and our greatest ambition with this project was to deliver the game that our community truly deserves. To all the fans of Kyle Crane and Dying Light, the moment is here. It's time to unleash The Beast.”

While Techland has not yet disclosed post-launch content plans, the studio emphasizes that The Beast was designed as a faithful return to what made the franchise resonate with players: fluid parkour movement, tense survival mechanics, and a compelling continuation of Crane’s story. With full support for modern hardware, enhancements like DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation on PC, and the added versatility of Steam Deck verification, Dying Light: The Beast sets out to reestablish the series as a leading name in open-world survival action.

Do you think Techland has successfully recaptured the magic of the original Dying Light, or will The Beast need to evolve further to keep players hooked long-term?
