Dragon Quest VII Reimagined Announced for February 2026 Release on PC and Consoles
Square Enix has officially announced Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, a full remake of the seventh entry in the legendary JRPG series. The game will release worldwide on February 5, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
Unlike the Nintendo 3DS version released years ago, this project will not be a simple port. Instead, Dragon Quest VII Reimagined will feature a completely rebuilt 3D presentation, with visuals, interface, and combat systems modernized to align with more recent titles such as Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age.
Originally released for the PlayStation in 2000 (and later remade for the Nintendo 3DS in 2013), Dragon Quest VII is one of the largest and most story-rich entries in the series. The upcoming reimagining appears to bring the game closer to current-generation RPG standards, giving both longtime fans and newcomers a chance to experience its time-traveling epic with modern gameplay and visuals.
While news on Dragon Quest XII remains scarce, Square Enix has ensured that the coming months will be exciting for fans of the franchise. In addition to Dragon Quest VII Reimagined’s February launch, players can also look forward to the Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, offering a refreshed take on the origins of the series.
With its updated presentation and combat, Dragon Quest VII Reimagined looks set to stand alongside Dragon Quest XI as one of the most visually and mechanically polished titles in the franchise’s history.
Will you revisit Dragon Quest VII in its new form, or is Dragon Quest XII still the title you’re waiting for?
