Dispatch Xbox Release Will Be Uncensored, While AdHoc Is Still Working With Nintendo on the Switch Versions

AdHoc Studio has confirmed that Dispatch will arrive on Xbox without the censorship issues that affected the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 versions, giving Xbox players the same full release as the original PC and PlayStation versions. The timing of the clarification matters because Dispatch’s Switch launch became a flashpoint in its community, with players criticizing both the content cuts and how the situation was initially communicated. According to Xbox Wire’s March 26 Partner Preview recap, the full collection of Dispatch episodes is coming this Summer to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Xbox Cloud as an Xbox Play Anywhere title.

The Xbox version’s status was clarified by AdHoc directly in the aftermath of the reveal. As reported in coverage summarizing the studio’s X posts, AdHoc said the Xbox release would be “the same full release as the original PC and PlayStation versions,” making it clear that the game’s content will not be altered on Microsoft’s platform. That gives the Xbox release immediate value for players who were concerned the Nintendo version’s changes might quietly become the standard across future ports.

The more complicated part of the story remains on Nintendo hardware. AdHoc has also said it is “still actively working with Nintendo on an update” for the Switch and Switch 2 versions, but there is no confirmed timeline yet for when that update might arrive or whether it will fully align those versions with the uncensored releases on other platforms. That means the situation is still unresolved, even if the studio is publicly signaling that it has not abandoned the issue.

From a platform strategy perspective, this creates an unusual split for a narrative driven game whose tone and presentation are part of its identity. Dispatch is not just another action title where small edits might go unnoticed. It is an episodic superhero workplace adventure built around dialogue, character dynamics, and presentation, so any censorship becomes far more visible to players. That is why the Xbox clarification landed as a relief for part of the community, while Nintendo players are still left waiting for a proper resolution. The fact that Xbox Wire is presenting Dispatch as a major Summer arrival for Xbox also suggests Microsoft sees the title as a meaningful addition to its platform lineup.

The broader issue here is that parity across platforms is no longer guaranteed, even for games launching within the same general window. If AdHoc ultimately cannot get Nintendo approval for an uncensored or less restricted update, Dispatch may remain one of those titles where the “best” version depends heavily on platform choice. That is not ideal for players, and it also puts extra pressure on studios to communicate clearly about content differences before release. The current evidence supports that AdHoc wants to improve the Switch situation, but it does not yet prove Nintendo will approve the same version available elsewhere. That last point is an inference based on the studio’s statement that it is still working on a solution, rather than confirmation of the final outcome.

For now, the clearest takeaway is simple. Xbox players are getting the full uncensored version of Dispatch this Summer, while Switch and Switch 2 owners are still in limbo waiting to see whether Nintendo and AdHoc can align on a patch.
