Days Gone Remastered PC Update Detailed Ahead of April 25 Release — New Tech Features Coming Free, Modes via DLC
Bend Studio has unveiled the full patch notes for Days Gone Remastered on PC, confirming that a range of technical upgrades and visual improvements will arrive as part of Update 1.08, launching alongside the PlayStation 5 version on Thursday, April 25, 2025. While the core enhancements will be available as a free update for existing PC players, several new gameplay modes—Horde Assault, Permadeath Mode, and Speedrun Mode—will be sold separately as part of the $10 Broken Road DLC.
The official Steam update confirms the following features included with Update 1.08:
DualSense haptic feedback support, for players using a compatible controller
Expanded accessibility options, making the game more inclusive
World graphical enhancements, including improved terrain and foliage
Advanced sky and lighting simulation using ozone and spectral light modeling, delivering richer color tones and more realistic sunlight
Significantly darker nighttime lighting, for enhanced atmosphere and tension
Improved screen space indirect lighting and ambient occlusion, providing deeper environmental realism
Double resolution shadow maps when Shadow Quality is set to “Highest,” greatly improving scene fidelity
These updates aim to modernize the 2019 open-world survival title, which already received praise on PC for its technical execution in Unreal Engine 4 following its 2021 PC port. While Sony has officially canceled the pitch for a sequel, fan enthusiasm around the remaster could re-ignite interest, especially if the title garners renewed commercial success.
Though its original reception was mixed at launch, Days Gone has steadily built a loyal fan base that appreciates its narrative-driven design, open-world traversal mechanics, and horde-based combat. The remaster, and particularly the technical polish provided by Update 1.08, may help the game reach a broader audience—especially those on high-end PCs.
