Gameplay and Features: Expanded Systems and New Mechanics

First announced at Summer Game Fest 2025, Code Vein II aims to significantly expand upon the original’s foundations. Bandai Namco showcased improvements across several core aspects of the game in a new gameplay presentation.

Character Creation: The customization system has been revamped, offering more detailed personalization, from facial features like eyes, scars, and hair to full outfits, masks, hats, and accessories.

Combat System: Staying true to its Soulslike roots, combat depth is a central focus. New weapon types, such as the bayonet, combine ranged and melee attacks but introduce ammo management for tactical variety. Players can still inflict bleed status on enemies to trigger devastating jail attacks, though the expanded weapon types provide broader strategies and flexibility. Boss battles are designed to be more intense, with multi-phase encounters and adaptive enemy behaviors.

Companion System: Companions have received a significant overhaul. In addition to fighting alongside the player, companions can now be “assimilated” to grant passive buffs and unique abilities. Lou, for example, can manipulate time, adding strategic depth to battles and exploration.

Story and Exploration: The narrative shifts focus to time travel, with the protagonist and companions journeying to the past in order to safeguard the future. Exploration will be more interactive, with map objects that unlock hidden areas and new crafting mechanics, such as using flour to create buffs and healing consumables.

With its mix of refined combat, deep character creation, expanded companion mechanics, and a more ambitious narrative, Code Vein II promises to elevate the series to new heights.
